Marathon TS is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Architect to support one of our Intelligence customers in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO, with a preference for St. Louis, MO. This position provides an opportunity to work on mission-critical data and database solutions while helping solve complex enterprise data challenges.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting PostgreSQL database infrastructure in a complex enterprise environment. The Database Architect will play a key role in database architecture, deployment, management, optimization, and ongoing support.
The successful candidate will work with technical teams and stakeholders to develop reliable and scalable database solutions that support the customer's mission. This position requires an experienced, self-motivated professional who can work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader technical team.
This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance.
How You Will Make an Impact
The PostgreSQL Database Architect will be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and supporting database infrastructure deployment and management. Working with limited supervision, the selected candidate will contribute to the successful delivery and maintenance of enterprise database solutions and perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the customer.
• Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of servers running on one or more operating systems.
• Maintains database integrity and security, configures role-based access control (RBAC), and sets up administrative accounts.
• Sets up administrator and service accounts.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures
• Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
• Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
• Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
• Provides advice on performance tuning and training to end-users.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
• Evaluates open-source or vendor tools and participates in database migration/special modernization projects.
• Collaborate with developers on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, and migrations
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
• 5 + years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.
• PostgreSQL experience required. Oracle database administration a plus.
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent recommended.
• Experience in PostgreSQL administration/tuning; including knowledge and implementation of database high-availability solutions and performance tuning
• Experience in monitoring, creating, and managing PostgreSQL server agent alerts
• Experience with Database backup, restore, migration, and Database snapshot technologies/strategies
• Knowledge on how to build/maintain efficient database table structures for both transactional and warehouse data
• Migration experience with Oracle, MySQL, and PostgresSQL
• Candidates must hold a TS/SCI
