Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
7+ years of Database Administration experience
Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments
Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
Experience implementing and maintaining SQL STIGs
Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
Experience tuning and optimizing SQL database performance
Experience supporting hybrid environments with Azure cloud technologies
DoD 8140/8570 compliant cybersecurity certification
Experience working with IIS and ColdFusion
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience with Azure Storage Explorer
Experience with MariaDB and/or PostgreSQL
Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts
Experience with database automation and scripting
Experience supporting database migration and integration projects
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certification
Advanced degree in a related technical field
Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or federal government environments
Experience collaborating directly with software developers and government stakeholders in an Agile environment
JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) in Aberdeen, MD to support a federal client within a software engineering environment program. This individual will be responsible for administering and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases that support approximately 1,500 end users across a hybrid infrastructure consisting of both on-premises and Azure-based environments. On a day-to-day basis, they will monitor database performance, implement backup and recovery procedures, apply SQL STIG requirements, and troubleshoot database issues to ensure system reliability, security, and availability. The DBA will work closely with software developers, government personnel, and program leadership to support ongoing database needs, including application integrations utilizing IIS and ColdFusion. This person will also play a key role in supporting environment modernization efforts, including collaboration across teams as the program transitions from Jira to GitLab. The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing operational database support with performance optimization initiatives and other project-based efforts.
$40-$65/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
