Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
Contract: Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) – currently in Option Period 4 (March 11, 2026 – March 11, 2027), followed by a 6-month extension through September 10, 2027, after which the work will be re-competed

Position Overview
Neuma Consulting is building a team of Data Scientists to support the Defense Intelligence Agency at DIA Headquarters on Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling. This team will help ensure that the artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) capabilities used across the intelligence enterprise—including large language models (LLMs)—are accurate, reliable, and trustworthy before they reach analysts and decision-makers.
We are hiring experienced data scientists at the Mid and Senior levels. If you hold an active TS/SCI and are passionate about applying rigorous data science to national security missions, we want to hear from you.
What the Team Does
• Test and evaluate AI/ML models, including LLMs, for performance and accuracy.
• Collaborate with intelligence analysts, engineers, and Government stakeholders to understand mission requirements and define meaningful evaluation criteria.
• Apply statistical and quantitative methods to analyze model outputs and data in support of all-source and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) missions.
• Communicate findings clearly in written and verbal products for technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications for All Positions
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
• Experience in data science, data engineering, data analytics, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience in, or the ability to perform, testing and evaluation of AI/ML models.
• Experience supporting Department of War (DoW)/DoD and/or Intelligence Community (IC) clients.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience collaborating in teams.
Desired Qualifications for All Positions
• Degree in quantitative social science, statistics, data science, or computer science.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs).
• Experience with GEOINT.
• Experience performing or supporting all-source analysis.
Each level below lists only what is required in addition to the qualifications above.
Mid-Level
Experience and Education
• At least 8 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to data science, with at least a portion of that experience within the last 2 years.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Skills and Abilities
• Comprehensive mission knowledge and skills demonstrating completion of all developmental training and experiences for the labor category.
• Ability to communicate understanding from information that may be incomplete, indirect, highly complex, seemingly unrelated, and/or technically advanced.
• Ability to structure analysis based on trends in reporting and a range of analytic perspectives from other analysts, organizations, and intelligence disciplines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and direction.
• Ability to collaborate with other IC members on information sharing, driving collection, and addressing analytic disputes and conflict resolution.
• Ability to develop concise, insightful, and comprehensive products for defense intelligence.
• Ability to lead teams in researching multifaceted or critical problems, provide guidance in selecting, designing, and applying analytic methodologies, and use argument evaluation and validated methodologies to challenge differing perspectives.
Desired
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in quantitative social science, statistics, data science, or computer science.
Senior-Level
Meets all Mid-Level qualifications, plus:
Experience and Education
• Minimum 12 years of experience related to data science, with at least a portion of that experience within the last 2 years.
• Master's degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; OR a related Bachelor's degree plus an additional 5 years of related senior experience (17 years total) in lieu of the Master's degree.
Skills and Abilities
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the labor category activities required to meet mission requirements.
• Mastery of qualitative and quantitative analytic methodologies, and active pursuit of developments in academia or other fields that affect tradecraft methodology.
• Ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique research approaches that enable rigorous assessments of high-level tasks.
• In-depth analysis of analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and intra-IC boundaries, with the ability to clearly articulate key findings.
• Ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions, and to routinely test their analytic rigor.
