We are seeking an experienced FPGA Engineer to support the Electromagnetic Weapon System Division (E20) at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). This position will contribute to the development, integration, and testing of high-performance digital systems supporting advanced weapons, high-speed projectiles, electromagnetic systems, sensors, and test and evaluation efforts.
The FPGA Engineer will design, implement, test, and optimize FPGA-based solutions for complex hardware applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VHDL or Verilog, FPGA development tools, digital logic design, and hardware debugging.
Responsibilities
Design and develop FPGA-based architectures for real-time and high-speed applications.
Implement and optimize VHDL and/or Verilog code for FPGA designs.
Conduct simulation, synthesis, and timing analysis to optimize FPGA performance.
Debug and validate FPGA designs using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
Develop and maintain FPGA testbenches for functional verification.
Support hardware/software co-design and integration efforts.
Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineers to develop integrated solutions.
Perform system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of FPGA-based hardware.
Use tools such as oscilloscopes, JTAG interfaces, and signal analyzers for hardware debugging and validation.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, implementation details, test procedures, and test results.
Support engineering activities related to advanced weapons, sensors, high-speed projectiles, and electromagnetic systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
3-7 years of experience in FPGA design and development.
Proficiency with HDL programming, including VHDL and/or Verilog.
Experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or equivalent platforms.
