Job Description:

FGS, LLC is seeking a Network Architect to lead the architecture, engineering, integration, and modernization of secure enterprise network capabilities supporting cloud, hybrid-cloud, and mission environments for the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, Maryland. The selected candidate will develop target network architectures, technical roadmaps, standards, interface designs, and implementation plans that provide secure, resilient, scalable, and high-performing connectivity.
The Network Architect will provide technical leadership across enterprise routing and switching, cloud connectivity, segmentation, secure remote access, traffic management, network services, monitoring, automation, availability, and disaster recovery. This position will coordinate closely with cloud architects, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, application and data teams, operations staff, and Government stakeholders from concept and design through integration, testing, transition, and sustainment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain target enterprise network architectures, topology diagrams, technical roadmaps, standards, reference designs, and implementation patterns.
• Design network segmentation, routing, switching, addressing, naming, transport, wide-area networking, cloud connectivity, secure remote access, and traffic-management solutions.
• Define physical and logical interfaces among enterprise networks, cloud platforms, mission systems, applications, data services, identity services, cybersecurity capabilities, and external partners.
• Lead network engineering, integration, testing, troubleshooting, technical refresh, migration, and operational-transition activities.
• Assess current network performance, availability, capacity, resiliency, scalability, supportability, and cybersecurity posture; develop prioritized modernization recommendations.
• Design highly available and fault-tolerant network solutions, including redundancy, continuity of operations, disaster recovery, failover, and performance-monitoring capabilities.
• Develop secure cloud-networking designs for virtual networks, routing, transit, private connectivity, gateways, load balancing, name resolution, firewalls, and hybrid-cloud integration.
• Integrate Zero Trust segmentation, least-privilege access, network security monitoring, encryption, boundary protection, and policy-enforcement requirements into network architectures.
• Conduct technical trade studies, site and system assessments, proofs of concept, design reviews, and alternatives analyses; document risks, constraints, costs, dependencies, and recommendations.
• Develop and maintain network architecture documents, interface-control documents, engineering plans, bills of material, configuration standards, test plans, migration procedures, and as-built documentation.
• Define network automation, software-defined networking, configuration management, compliance validation, and Infrastructure as Code approaches.
• Provide technical direction and design guidance to network engineers, cloud engineers, systems administrators, cybersecurity personnel, vendors, and integration teams.
• Review implementation artifacts, configurations, test results, and delivered capabilities for conformance with approved architectures, standards, security requirements, and technical baselines.
• Support incident and problem resolution by analyzing complex connectivity, performance, availability, interoperability, and security issues.
• Brief Government and program leadership on network architecture status, modernization alternatives, technical risks, dependencies, and recommended decisions.

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance at the time of hire.
• Minimum eight years of relevant network-engineering experience.
• At least five years supporting Government network design, administration, operations, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated experience leading network architecture, enterprise integration, interface design, testing, implementation, and operations.
• Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP, addressing, network services, wide-area networking, segmentation, firewalls, load balancing, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience designing secure, resilient, highly available enterprise networks supporting complex information systems and mission operations.
• Experience developing architecture diagrams, technical specifications, interface documentation, engineering plans, configuration standards, test plans, and implementation guidance.
• Experience assessing network performance, availability, capacity, resiliency, scalability, and cybersecurity risks.
• Current professional-level technical certification relevant to enterprise networking, systems engineering, cloud networking, or cybersecurity.
• Strong technical leadership, analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• Cisco CCNP or CCIE, Juniper JNCIP or JNCIE, or comparable professional-level network certification.
• Experience with cloud networking in AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other accredited Government cloud environments.
• Experience with software-defined networking, network automation, Infrastructure as Code, configuration orchestration, and automated compliance validation.
• Experience implementing Zero Trust segmentation, identity-aware access, microsegmentation, network-access control, and policy-based enforcement.
• Experience designing high-availability, continuity-of-operations, disaster-recovery, and geographically distributed network solutions.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring, telemetry, flow analysis, packet capture, performance management, and network-security analytics.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community networks and classified mission environments.
• ITIL, Red Hat, cloud, cybersecurity, systems-engineering, or other relevant professional certification.

Education Requirements:

• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education when permitted by applicable contract requirements.

Security Clearance Requirements:

• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance are required at the time of hire. The employee must maintain clearance eligibility throughout employment.

Physical, Work Environment & Conditions:

• Primarily onsite in Suitland, Maryland, with limited telework when authorized.
• Work is performed in a professional office, secure-facility, and occasional data-center or equipment-room environment.
• Must be able to use standard office and information-technology equipment and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Occasional standing, walking between work areas, and inspection of installed network equipment may be required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with technical, mission, program, and senior leadership stakeholders.
• Occasional schedule flexibility or limited travel may be required to support assessments, technical reviews, integration, testing, or deployment activities.
