Description

ASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC (AFSS), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, systems integration, engineering, and program management services supporting mission-critical national security and defense programs.

AFSS is seeking a Senior Software Developer to support the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC2) Program in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position will support software development, integration, test, and Mission Transfer capabilities for an advanced ground-based radar system supporting the Department of Defense's Space Domain Awareness mission.

The selected candidate will develop, modify, integrate, test, and troubleshoot mission software supporting the detection, tracking, and characterization of space objects. A primary focus of this position will be software supporting Mission Transfer-the coordinated transfer of responsibility for tracking a space object from one DARC radar site to another while maintaining mission and track continuity across the distributed radar architecture.

The position will work closely with software, radar, systems engineering, integration, test, cybersecurity, and operations teams to develop and integrate capabilities supporting multi-site radar operations, track-data exchange, sensor coordination, and continuity of space-object tracking between geographically separated DARC sites.

The ideal candidate is an experienced software developer with strong C++, Python, and Java skills and an understanding of radar, sensor, or tracking systems. Experience developing software for ground-based radar, radar tracking, sensor data processing, multi-sensor integration, or Space Domain Awareness applications is highly desired.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, integrate, test, and maintain software supporting DARC2 radar mission capabilities.
• Develop software supporting Mission Transfer and continuity of space-object tracking between geographically separated DARC radar sites.
• Develop and maintain mission software using C++, Python, and Java within a complex, distributed software environment.
• Support software functions associated with radar tracking, track management, track-data processing, sensor coordination, and exchange of mission information between DARC sites.
• Analyze software architectures, interfaces, algorithms, data structures, messaging, and system data flows supporting multi-site radar operations.
• Develop and integrate software interfaces supporting reliable exchange of tracking and mission data between distributed systems.
• Support continuity and integrity of mission and track information as tracking responsibility transitions between DARC radar sites.
• Develop software solutions supporting radar data processing, mission processing, system control, external interfaces, and related mission functions.
• Troubleshoot complex software, system interface, data-processing, synchronization, timing, communications, and performance issues.
• Support software installation, configuration, deployment, integration, checkout, and verification in development, integration, test, and operational environments.
• Collaborate with radar engineers, systems engineers, software developers, integration and test personnel, cybersecurity personnel, and operators to resolve system-level technical issues.
• Translate mission and system requirements into software requirements, designs, interfaces, algorithms, and executable software capabilities.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and system-level software testing, including testing of multi-site mission scenarios and interfaces.
• Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, technical interchange meetings, integration events, and Mission Transfer development and verification activities.
• Support software configuration management, version control, build processes, continuous integration, software releases, and technical baseline management.
• Develop and maintain software design documentation, interface documentation, test procedures, problem reports, and other technical documentation.
• Support Agile software development activities and continuous process improvement.
• Perform other software engineering, integration, and mission support activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another STEM discipline with a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience; or a Master's degree with a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain the required clearance.
• Significant professional software development experience using C++.
• Software development experience using Python and Java.
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting software for complex systems.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented software design, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting software in Linux/Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• Experience developing or integrating distributed software systems and system-to-system interfaces.
• Experience analyzing software architectures, interfaces, requirements, messaging, and system data flows.
• Experience with software configuration management, source/version control, build processes, and controlled software releases.
• Experience with software debugging, performance analysis, integration testing, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience using modern software development and collaboration tools such as Git, JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Ability to understand and work with complex system requirements, software requirements, interface definitions, and technical documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary software, systems, hardware, integration, test, and operations teams.
• Ability to travel up to 25% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience developing software for ground-based radar systems.
• Experience developing software supporting radar tracking, track management, track correlation, or sensor data processing.
• Working knowledge of radar fundamentals, including radar detection, tracking, measurement processing, and radar data products.
• Experience with radar signal processing and Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
• Experience with multi-sensor or geographically distributed sensor systems, including exchange and synchronization of track or mission data.
• Experience developing software supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA), space surveillance, missile warning, missile defense, or other advanced sensor systems.
• Experience developing software for phased-array radar or other large-scale sensor systems.
• Experience developing real-time or near-real-time distributed mission software.
• Experience with networked applications, inter-process communications, messaging, data serialization, and system-to-system interfaces.
• Experience with MATLAB for algorithm development, modeling, analysis, or test.
• Experience with multithreaded and parallel software development.
• Experience with CUDA, GPU acceleration, or other high-performance/parallel computing technologies.
• Experience with containerized software environments using Docker or similar technologies.
• Experience with microservices, service-oriented architectures, or distributed messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience with automated software testing, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, and modern software development environments.
• Experience integrating software with radar hardware, RF systems, sensors, communications systems, or external mission systems.
• Experience supporting software integration, test, verification, and troubleshooting at operational or fielded sites.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Space Force software development and integration programs.
• Security+ or equivalent DoD 8140 certification.

Clearance

Travel

• Up to 25% travel may be required to support software integration and test, Mission Transfer verification, customer meetings, system installation, technical coordination, and field support activities.
