"Position Responsibilities
This position will serve as a Scrum Master for the C2BMC System Architecture (SA) Product Team. The Scrum Master will report directly to the team’s Product Owner and provide servant leadership and mentorship to a Scrum team within the SA product team (leading one of two Scrum teams within SA). The scrum master will ensure Agile processes and ceremonies (such as daily scrum, backlog refinement with the PO, sprint planning, sprint retrospective, etc.) take place and that all team members are engaged. The scrum master will leverage their knowledge of software engineering, Agile methodology, people skills, and technical knowledge to help clear roadblocks for the team, track progress, and plan future work. The Scrum Master will also be a key member during Program Increment (PI) Planning and will be expected to help plan work, lead team decomposition of features, and help lead and track user story creation. The candidate will be expected to work closely with other product team scrum masters, technical leaders, and management to ensure their scrum team understands capabilities, dependencies on other teams, and program schedules, enabling successful and accurate PI planning. Additionally, familiarity with the Earned Value Management System (EVMS), used by the government and the C2BMC program to track financial progress, is a plus. The expectation is that the scrum master will contribute to technical work for about 70% of their time, with the remaining 30% dedicated to scrum master ceremonies and duties (except during PI planning). The ideal candidate will leverage their strong skills in leadership, Agile methodology, EVMS, and technical knowledge (Java software development, Continuous Integration and Development, missile defense background, and systems engineering) to lead a successful scrum team.
Basic Qualifications
This position is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for software development in Java for the Regional Applications/Battle Management Sensor Resource Management (BM/SRM) team in Huntsville. Under
Preferred Qualifications
Experience serving as a technical lead or senior developer within a software development organization. Experience with modern software development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows, and automated testing. Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) – either as a CAM or analyzing/interpreting EVMS data to track progress. Experience decomposing Agile features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria. Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. Experience leading Agile teams supporting complex DoD software systems. Agile coaching experience. Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
Education Required Generally has 3+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline."
