Position Responsibilities
The Product Owner's primary responsibility is to lead the Global software development team in developing and testing innovative solutions to support MDA projects and experiments. The Product Owner will fulfill the following:o Provide leadership for a software team that performs in-depth analysis and technical support of a large, distributed system written in Javao Provide technical consulting to the Regional team and other stakeholderso Gather requirements from stakeholders and other teams to ensure timely and accurate deliverieso Defining and maintaining acceptance criteria for team stories and other product backlog items, ensuring that the team has a clear understanding of what is required to complete a task, and removing blockers at any level to support team progresso Perform complex problem resolution assisting software team in design, development, testing, integration, and user-support for a large code baselineo Follow specifications in order to develop or modify stories for the software team to work o Assist in removing blockers from software team o Interface with other system support groups and software leadership to resolve problems, set standards and improve overall efficiency of the systemNon-standard work hours may be required during event execution and a small amount of travel may be required. The Software Engineer must possess an understanding of software development processes and principles, and be able to communicate the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject-matter experts, and system users. The Software Engineer should be comfortable with rapidly changing requirements, design challenges that require novel solutions, fast-paced activities, and tight deadlines.""
Basic Qualifications
Generally, 5+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree and/or certifications in a related discipline. -Experience working as a Software Leader on a team in a role such as Scrum Master, PO, ect.-Knowledge of Agile principles and roles- Proficiency in Java with the ability to design, develop, and test Java applications- Experience developing in a Unix/Linux environment- Strong understanding of software development principles including OOP, design patterns, and testing/debugging techniques- Effective oral and written communication skills- Ability to work effectively in a rapid-pace, team environment- Knowledge of software practices and coding standards- Ability to work effectively within a structured environment- Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, recommend and develop a solution
Preferred Qualifications
The following knowledge base and/or skills are desired for the Software Engineer:•.
Test-driven development and continuous integration• Software architecture design• Service Oriented Architecture development principles• Ability to refactor code for reusability, readability, and maintainability in an object-oriented codebase• Application deployment, integration, and troubleshooting• Operating systems experience with Windows & Unix/Linux• Experience with the Eclipse IDE, Maven, and Git• Conduct and participate in peer reviews• Ability to extract data to support analysis• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)• Implementation of algorithms• Messaging interface development• Using the Agile methodology for software development
