Job Description:
The Software Engineer will lead developers in creating a flexible classification marking tool for the ICAM ZT project. Candidates must have experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, familiarity with unit and functional testing, strong multitasking skills, and attention to detail. Responsibilities include keeping projects on track, providing technical guidance, presenting demos, communicating risks, and collaborating with system engineers for User Acceptance Testing. The role is customer-facing, involves problem-solving, maintaining configuration management practices, building deployment packages, and preparing documentation. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required, along with knowledge of markings across multiple environments.
The Level 2 Software Engineer shall possess the following capabilities:
  • Ability to enforce coding standards and work within an agile development project.
  • Experience in JavaScript, Typescript.
  • Excellent written skills and experience in generating program/process related documents.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Bruno, Cypress, or similar.
  • Exposure to API testing and related tools.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment or possess a foundational understanding of Linux.
  • Quick learner with a proactive, adaptable mindset.
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), functional testing, API testing, accessibility (508), and role-based testing.
  • Strong documentation skills: manual test cases, test procedures, requirements verification traceability matrices (RVTM), and test plans.
  • Proficient in GitLab workflow processes.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence for project tracking and collaboration.
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts aligned with requirements and specifications.
  • Execute both manual and automated tests, including functional, regression, UAT, API, accessibility (508), and role-based testing.
  • Identify, document, track, verify defects, provide clear reproduction steps, expected versus actual results, and severity assessments.
  • Analyze test outcomes, report findings, and deliver actionable feedback to developers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of test automation frameworks, increasing coverage for critical workflows.
  • Participate in requirement reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning/review sessions.
  • Help define and refine QA processes, standards, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize testing activities to balance quality assurance with project timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of test artifacts, results, and quality metrics.
  • Experience with Jest, Cypress and Docker.
  • Working knowledge of markings and their use.
  • Ability to analyze system requirements, the concept of operations, and high-level system architecture to develop requirements specifications.
  • Gather, analyze, and capture customer requirements.
  • Establish internal schedules and milestones.
  • Provide input to system engineers to document processes and provide deliverables to the government.
  • Assist system engineers when testing new configurations/software releases.
  • Coordinate software deliveries with external organizations.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • 2 years of work experience in the SIGINT, IA, or IT domains.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer engineering or in a field related to computer engineering or computer science disciplines. 4 years of Software Engineering experience may be substituted for the degree for a total of 9 years.
