As a System Engineer 5 and Lab Manager with robust knowledge of the full life cycle of Enterprise Infrastructure and Systems Engineering. You will lead the organization, coordination, safety, and technical readiness of secure laboratory spaces supporting complex mission systems. You will manage lab utilization, staging, facility planning, schedules, system security plan activities, engineering drawings, hardware integration, and cross-team lab operations. You'll work hands-on across servers, networking, RF equipment, virtualization, containers, timing, fiber, power, and secure connectivity while ensuring teams can build, test, and deploy mission capabilities efficiently. A typical day will start by reviewing emails and JIRA tickets created since you left the day before and working through any issues as well as checking monitoring of machine rooms and walking the floor looking for any alerts or issues.
Position requires an active TS/SCI with polygraph level clearance. US citizenship is required. Some travel will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage secure laboratory spaces, utilization plans, staging areas, schedules, and day-to-day lab activities.
- Develop and maintain lab-space diagrams, rack elevations, wiring diagrams, and facility utilization plans.
- Coordinate facility planning, power distribution, network connectivity, RF configurations, timing, GPS, and fiber-optic connections.
- Ensure participating groups maintain their assigned spaces and follow safety, cleanliness, security, and configuration requirements.
- Redline LAN, wiring, rack, and system drawings and coordinate final updates with drafting personnel.
- Coordinate shipping, receiving, inventory, barcoding, equipment staging, installation, and decommissioning activities.
- Support system security plan activities and applicable STE, STN, and secure-laboratory requirements.
- Integrate and troubleshoot servers, network devices, RF equipment, racks, switches, modems, digitizers, receivers, storage, and timing systems.
- Support Linux, virtual-machine, Kubernetes, and other software environments used in the laboratory.
- Coordinate EMI testing, cross-building VPN connectivity, MUC connectivity, and other specialized lab requirements.
- Maintain milestone schedules and communicate lab status, risks, dependencies, and resource constraints to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with facilities personnel, engineers, cybersecurity teams, vendors, mission users, and program leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and fifteen (15) years of system engineering experience or nineteen (19) years' experience in lieu of degree.
- IAT Certification Level II
Desired Skills:
- Experience managing secure government or contractor laboratory space.
- Experience with NetApp, Kubernetes, virtual machines, and Linux-based laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with specialized mission software and RF test or integration workflows.
- Experience supporting EMI testing and system security plan compliance activities.
- Experience maintaining inventory, barcodes, shipping and receiving processes, and configuration records.
- Demonstrated leadership coordinating multiple technical teams within shared laboratory space.
