The Release Train Engineer (RTE) supports a fast-paced Agile environment by enabling effective PI execution, optimizing flow, managing risks and impediments, and ensuring consistent value delivery. The RTE facilitates ART ceremonies, coaches teams in Lean Agile practices, and helps tailor SAFe to the organization’s needs.

The RTE facilitates ART ceremonies, coaches teams in Lean Agile practices, and helps tailor SAFe to the organization’s needs.
What to expect:
- Full-time on-site presence at secure facility in Washington, DC will be required as the program matures
- A collaborative, Agile environment where your input shapes the architecture from day one
- Dev platform based on ServiceNow, Elastic, AWS and RedHat
- An active TS/SCI clearance (required for consideration)
- Willingness to complete and maintain additional customer suitability screenings throughout employment
- Current Security+ certification or higher/equivalent
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead Agile Release Train (ART) activities and drive Lean Agile practices to improve delivery flow.
- Plan and manage software and architecture release schedules.
- Facilitate PI Planning and continuous exploration activities, including pre- and post- PI sessions.
- Coordinate cross team collaboration through Scrum of Scrums and other forums.
- Consolidate team PI objectives and publish program level objectives.
- Track feature and capability execution using metrics across Agile and DevOps teams.
- Brief customers and leadership on progress, testing, deployment status, and release readiness.
- Understand the program’s complex system architecture to assess risks and customer concerns.
- Coach teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and leaders in agile maturity and practices.
- Promote teamwork and alignment to PI goals.
- Escalate and manage impediments and coordinate critical dependencies.
- Provide resourcing and planning input to resolve bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with the PMO on program execution and test data needs.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Current Security+ or equivalent/higher
- Ability to work full-time on-site
- Ability to pass and maintain additional suitability screenings as required by customer
- Bachelor’s degree with 8–12 years relevant experience, or master’s with 6–10 years (experience may substitute for degree).
- Experience supporting Agile software development teams in roles such as Scrum Master or project lead.
- Experience briefing leadership and customer stakeholders.
- Experience using Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira).
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
- 3–5 years of ServiceNow administration or configuration experience.
- Experience with ServiceNow ATFs.
- ITIL foundation knowledge or certification.
- AWS cloud certifications.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, Jira, and Confluence.
