Position Overview

We are seeking an Editor/Researcher to provide production editing support for a fast-paced correspondence and tasking environment at the National Guard Bureau (NGB). This role reviews and refines written products for clarity and accuracy, helps keep time-sensitive tasks moving, and supports research and writing for a range of official communications, including congressional and leadership correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Review, revise, and edit correspondence daily for grammar, clarity, formatting, and regulatory compliance, using tracked-changes tools to document recommended edits
  • Assess documents for readability and proper use of formal writing conventions, communicating findings to originators within required timeframes
  • Track the status of in-progress tasks and coordinate with staff and workflow managers to keep documents moving through review
  • Provide production editing support for a range of official publications, policies, and guidance documents
  • Serve as editorial support for organizational SOPs and reference documents, including drafting portions and proofreading for compliance
  • Draft and refine responses to formal requests for information, ensuring accuracy, proper format, and appropriate tone for the requestor
  • Support preparation of materials for high-visibility hearings and leadership engagements, ensuring consistency with prior correspondence and adherence to deadlines
  • Research, analyze, and summarize complex or sensitive topics to inform official responses and leadership decision-making
  • Draft responses to complex, sensitive, or controversial inquiries, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and appropriate tone for the intended audience
  • Provide facilitation, administrative, and logistical support for staff action processes, and use available information systems to track and retrieve official records
  • Support onboarding and training for incoming staff on editorial and correspondence procedures


Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance; #qinetiqclearedjob
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in editing, proofreading, correspondence review (including congressional/legislative correspondence), publication support, and writing quality assurance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in writing, editing, and research within an editorial career field


Pay Transparency

The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $77,500USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. QinetiQ US considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
