AEGIS SPY Radar System Instructor (Secret Clearance Required)
Location: Dahlgren, VA (100% Onsite)
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $35-$44/hr during contract period + conversion salary of approximately $90,000/year
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required
Are you a former Navy AEGIS Fire Controlman or SPY Radar Technician looking to leverage your technical expertise in a training environment? We are seeking an AEGIS SPY Radar System Instructor to support a critical Navy training program in Dahlgren, VA.
In this role, you will train Fleet Sailors on AEGIS SPY radar systems through classroom instruction, hands-on labs, troubleshooting exercises, and curriculum support. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong operational and maintenance experience who enjoy teaching, mentoring, and helping develop the next generation of AEGIS technicians.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical instruction on AEGIS Baseline 9 SPY radar systems
Teach radar operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and system alignment
Conduct classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory training
Evaluate student performance and provide technical coaching
Support curriculum updates and training material maintenance
Ensure training content remains technically accurate and aligned with Navy standards
Maintain training and student records
Required Qualifications
Active Secret Security Clearance
Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline OR equivalent military training and experience
5+ years of AEGIS SPY radar experience as a technician, operator, maintainer, supervisor, or instructor
Experience supporting AEGIS Baseline systems, preferably Baseline 9
Experience teaching in a technical training environment
Knowledge of radar operations, maintenance, fault isolation, troubleshooting, and system alignment
Strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
SPY NEC certifications (V70A, V14C, V13C)
Navy Instructor NEC (9502 or 805A)
Experience with Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC), ATRC, or TACTRAGRU
Experience developing curriculum, learning objectives, testing materials, and student evaluations
Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) or Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) experience
