Job Description

Duties

The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function. Plans work operations of great scope, complexity, and administrative authority. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits.

(1) Planning: Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to week or month-to-month basis.
(2) Work Direction: Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.
(3) Administration: Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.
(4) Performs non-supervisory work, such as transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc.
(5) Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Must currently be permanent or indefinite technician in the WY ARNG.
Must submit IPPS-A STP and SF-50 with application.
Must possess or be able to obtain/maintain a T3/SECRET security clearance.
May be required to successfully complete a two-year trial and one-year supervisory probation period.
Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, if eligible. Subject to funding and TAG approval.
PCS costs are not authorized in lieu of incentives.
Must be willing to relocate at own expense.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, student loan repayment bonuses, and other education incentives. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or termination of these military incentives. Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a technician.
Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Work is covered by the 5800-job family which includes occupations involved in repairing, adjusting, and maintaining self-propelled transportation and other mobile equipment (except aircraft), including any special purpose features with which they may be equipped.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must possess experience or training leading to an extensive knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex interconnecting systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify interconnected complex systems on a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Extensive knowledge of state of the art electrical, electronic, complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and other major non-mechanical systems that have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of major mechanical systems. Extensive knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls. Skill and knowledge to develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines (such as modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed); improvise modifications to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions; and design modifications to meet special test requirements or other special needs.

In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
