TS/SCI CI Poly Mechanical Design Engineer
Locations: Palm Bay, FL or Carlsbad, CA
Schedule: 100% Onsite
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Compensation: $55-$70/hr W2
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
About the Opportunity
Join a team developing advanced aerospace and defense technologies that support critical national security missions. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design, development, integration, and testing of sophisticated mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge hardware, including precision mechanisms, custom gear trains, actuators, and complex electro-mechanical assemblies throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware from concept through production
Create detailed engineering designs, models, and drawings using CAD tools
Support hardware integration, qualification, and environmental testing activities
Perform hands-on troubleshooting and validation in laboratory environments
Collaborate with systems, electrical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams
Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and program requirements
Generate and maintain engineering documentation and technical data packages
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI Clearance with CI Polygraph
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
6+ years of mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience
Experience supporting the design, development, and testing of hardware systems
Strong problem-solving abilities and experience working in fast-paced engineering environments
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Creo or similar CAD platforms
Experience with ASME Y14.5 and GD&T standards
Materials testing and qualification experience
Experience designing actuators, custom gear trains, and precision mechanisms
Electro-optical or electro-mechanical systems experience
Aerospace, defense, or national security program experience
