Information Warfare Specialist
Location: MARFORSOUTH Headquarters – New Orleans, Louisiana
Work Arrangement: Full-Time, On-Site
Estimated Level of Effort: 1 FTE / 1,920 hours annually
Possible Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., excluding Federal holidays
Travel: CONUS/OCONUS travel may be required, including travel within the U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) Area of Responsibility and Caribbean.
Position Summary
The Information Warfare Specialist will provide on-site operational planning and information warfare support to the MARFORSOUTH G-3/9. The position will support the planning, integration, coordination, and assessment of Information Operations (IO), Military Information Support Operations (MISO/PSYOP), and Military Deception (MILDEC) activities in support of MARFORSOUTH missions throughout the USSOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support MARFORSOUTH G-3/9 planning, coordination, and integration of Information Operations, MISO/PSYOP, and MILDEC activities.
Assist with the development of IO, MISO, and MILDEC plans, annexes, and appendices for Government review and approval.
Develop and recommend MILDEC concepts and integrate them into broader operational plans.
Conduct and maintain Target Audience Analysis for countries within the USSOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility.
Support MISO/PSYOP planning, message development, and effects assessment.
Assess the performance and effectiveness of IO, MISO, and MILDEC activities and campaigns.
Participate in operational planning teams, tasker reviews, planning conferences, and other mission-planning activities.
Provide recommendations and information to support MARFORSOUTH operational planning and decision-making.
Coordinate with organizations and stakeholders including USSOUTHCOM, Headquarters Marine Corps, other military service components, U.S. Navy organizations, interagency partners, and U.S. Country Teams.
Support planning and coordination activities during CONUS and OCONUS travel, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship required.
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
Minimum five (5) years of experience planning and integrating Information Operations (IO).
Strong experience with MISO/PSYOP and MILDEC at the tactical or operational level.
Demonstrated experience with the MISO/PSYOP planning process.
Demonstrated experience with the MILDEC planning process.
Experience conducting Target Audience Analysis, message development, and effects assessment.
Ability to develop operational plans, annexes, appendices, assessments, briefings, and other planning products.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Valid U.S. driver's license and U.S. passport.
Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS and obtain required country visas.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate of a DoD-approved MISO/PSYOP qualification course.
Graduate of a DoD-approved MILDEC or Information Operations planning course.
Previous USSOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility experience.
Combatant Command-level planning experience.
Previous MARFOR/Marine Corps experience.
Spanish-language proficiency, preferably DLPT 2/2 or higher.
Ability to develop and present operational products and briefings in English and Spanish.
