Security Assistant

Duties

• Perform with tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties, and exercise patience, discretion to the customers.
• Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), telephone systems, and activates and deactivates CCTV.
• Answer brief visitor questions, determines whether appropriate authorization for access exists, and provides assistance.
• Prepare reports using automated programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft word, excel, and power point.
• Initiate search reports from the computer database to determine causes of problems or anomalies with the system.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) managing systems such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), and various electronic security devices; 2) controlling access to secure areas; AND 3) utilizing office automation programs to create reports, rosters and/or complete forms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
