Job Title: Riverbed Engineer, Subject Matter Expert

Department: Operations – Services

Location: MacDill Air Force Base, Florida

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Riverbed Engineer, Subject Matter Expert (SME) will support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end-user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and the end-user who operates around the globe 24x7x365.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Ensure that the assigned technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications meet enterprise and security standards.

· Provides input into infrastructure architecture designs.

· Serve as service owner and technical lead for Riverbed.

· Perform installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Riverbed and integrated technologies; ensure that the assigned technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications meet enterprise and security standards; and provide input into infrastructure architecture designs.

· Own and drive value from the Riverbed service.

· Define and drive the Riverbed roadmap.

· Ensure the Riverbed estate is effectively managed, and industry best practice is used across.

· Support Riverbed in a virtualized environment with RHEL and Windows operating systems.

· Standardize Riverbed forward deployment, configuration, and maintenance across a variety of platforms.

· Create data retention policies and perform index administration, maintenance, and optimization.

· Manage the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements; and ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.

· Operationally maintain and develop automation between Riverbed, integrated technologies and ITSM platform including improving accuracy and fine-tuning of event-alert-incident correlation.

· Configure Riverbed with the objective of proactively preventing incidents; where incidents occur, actively support the incident and problem management processes to resolve and avoid further occurrences.

· Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, change/incident managers, engineers, and senior staff members.

· Actively participate in multiple workgroups at one time and disseminate information across all levels of the organization.

· Review technical documentation from the build team, such as user guides, manuals, and system specifications, prior to transition into operations, and ensure their subject area is accurately represented and fit for purpose as a basis to on-board monitoring solutions.

· Contribute to continual service improvement by challenging, reviewing, updating, and creating processes and procedures to drive operational excellence.

· Engaging with key stakeholders to design and configure tailored monitoring solutions and dashboards within Riverbed.

· Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.

· Submit MSRs (weekly, monthly, etc.)

· Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least three times per week, and respond accordingly.

· Complete required compliance training as assigned.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills

· Experience in a large enterprise network environment in the DoD space.

· Monitoring tools experience required with Aternity and Steel Central.

· Strong knowledge of Riverbed suite of tools including Aternity, NetIM.

· Familiar with Riverbed architecture and best practices.

· Experience with networking, server, application, and web technologies.

· Extensive knowledge of a tiered Riverbed installation; indexers, forwarders, search heads, and clusters.

· General networking and security troubleshooting (firewalls, routing).

· Scripting and development skills with knowledge of regular expressions.

· Ability to autonomously prioritize and successfully deliver across a portfolio of projects.

· Familiarity with key events on common IT platforms.

· Good understanding of Microsoft technologies, e.g., AD, Windows Server, Hyper V, Exchange, O365, SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics, IIS, Azure, and web hosting.

· Knowledge of Clusters, Storage, Backups, Data Export/Import, and disaster recovery.

· Solid knowledge of TCP/IP.

· Experience with protocol analyzers, WireShark, and packet analysis.

Education & Work Experience

· Either Bachelor of Science with 8-10 years of experience, Master of Science with 6-8 years of experience, or PhD with 3-5 years of experience.

· Significant relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Certifications, Licenses

· One of the following: SecurityX / CASP+ CCNP Security CCSP FITSP-O GFACT

Special Requirements

· TS/SCI clearance required.

Work Environment

Employees will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.
