Duties

As a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN), GS-2210-12, you will analyze requirements and establish plans of action for improving IT applications; perform as plans and policy advisor to functional users of information technology; plan and develop methods, procedures, policies, and techniques concerning telecommunication systems; implement IT and communications programs and special projects; assist with contracting functions and budget preparation; attend meetings and present briefings; plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work; adhere to management control plan requirements by conducting self inspection and staff assistance visits; perform other duties as assigned.

  • Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance level for this position.
  • This position requires the individual selected to have a security level of Top Secret/SCI. The applicant must possess or be able to obtain this level of clearance within one year of appointment.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by (NGB-J1 ).
  • Incumbent must complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position IAW DOD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005.
  • Incumbent must complete Information Assurance - Technical Level II (IAT 11), IAW current AF directives within six months of employment.
  • In accordance with the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, the Clinger Cohen Act of 1996, and AF directives, the incumbent must obtain Special Experience Identifier (SEI) 264.
  • Personnel assigned to this position must obtain the appropriate certifications within six months of being assigned. Failure to obtain and/or maintain updated certifications IAW with publications listed are grounds for termination.
Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education, and/or training that has provided you with a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled you to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of (GS-11) or 36 months experience, education or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment; experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion; experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
