This role supports full lifecycle engineering—from requirements analysis and architectural development to integration, verification, validation, and accreditation—while also delivering expert‑level hands‑on support for Red Hat Linux, VMware virtualization, Splunk, and Ansible automation.

The engineer drives mission‑critical modernization, maintains system integrity across multi‑platform infrastructures, and provides authoritative technical direction in high‑security DoD/IC environments.

Key Responsibilities

Linux, Virtualization, and Infrastructure Engineering
• Configure, harden, manage, and troubleshoot Red Hat Linux operating systems
• Install and load OS software, validate configurations, and maintain system integrity
• Configure and support network components and implement OS-level enhancements to improve reliability and performance
• Provide senior operational support for the troubleshooting and maintenance of complex IT systems
• Optimize system resource utilization; conduct capacity analysis and planning
• Resolve dispatch system issues and hardware problems throughout system lifecycle

Virtualization & Automation
• Deliver extensive hands‑on engineering support for VMware platforms, including configuration, optimization, and lifecycle sustainment
• Use Splunk and Ansible to enhance monitoring, orchestration, automation, configuration consistency, and system observability

Systems Engineering & Architecture Leadership
• Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and architectures; develop detailed system requirements and specifications
• Lead systems engineering activities and ensure alignment with DoDAF and SOA architectural frameworks
• Develop technical documentation including SEPs, requirements specifications, ICDs, and design artifacts
• Provide technical direction for system development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing across hardware and software domains
• Evaluate design alternatives and support integration of new technologies into existing mission operations
• Conduct feasibility studies, trade analyses, and modeling/simulation

Verification, Validation & Lifecycle Management
• Define evaluation criteria and verification methods for system and subsystem testing
• Prepare or assess integration/test plans supporting DoD and Government accreditation activities
• Maintain configuration control and technical baselines throughout system lifecycle
• Assess system risks, determine impacts, and assist with mitigation planning

Architecture, Interfaces & Operational Views
• Implement operational, system, and technical views aligned with DoDAF standards
• Capture and maintain interface designs in standardized repositories
• Support development of operational concepts, end‑to‑end flow analysis, and architectural modernization

Information Assurance & Security Engineering
• Develop derived IA requirements including confidentiality, integrity, non‑repudiation, and availability
• Support authentication, access control, accountability, and cryptographic solutions
• Ensure system security and IA alignment throughout engineering and operational activities

Qualifications

Required
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held)
• 20 years of systems engineering experience supporting DoD or Government programs
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, CS, IS, Engineering Management, or related discipline
– Five additional years may substitute for degree
• Expertise with Red Hat Linux, VMware, Splunk, and Ansible
• Experience leading SE planning, documentation, integration, and architectural development
• Strong understanding of DoDAF/SOA architectures and system‑of‑systems integration
• Ability to manage system requirements and derived requirements throughout lifecycle
• Excellent communication skills with senior executives and government personnel

Preferred
• Experience developing SOA solutions
• Experience with risk management, quantitative performance analysis, and lifecycle trade studies
• Familiarity with DoD certification and accreditation processes
