Job Description

NineFX is seeking a Systems Engineer V to serve as a senior technical authority for enterprise network architecture across large, mission‑critical, and geographically distributed government environments. This role delivers advanced engineering, modernization, and integration expertise using Arista, Aruba, Plexxi, Dell, and F5 technologies, while ensuring compliance with STE/STN, STIG, and federal security mandates.
The engineer leads complex projects, designs next‑generation network architectures, supports multi‑domain modernization efforts, and provides expert analytical guidance to senior government stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

Advanced Network Engineering & Integration
• Design and oversee implementation of voice, data, and video communications systems across campus‑wide and enterprise environments
• Develop customized, mission‑aligned network designs that meet unique customer requirements while adhering to ITS and federal standards
• Engineer interconnections using Arista EOS platforms, Aruba wireless solutions, Plexxi fabrics, F5 load balancers, and Dell switching technologies
• Conduct advanced site surveys, gather technical requirements, and produce design specifications supporting installation, optimization, and troubleshooting
• Architect scalable networks supporting modernization efforts, high availability, and mission continuity

Security & Compliance
• Apply STE/STN requirements and STIG mandates throughout network design and operations
• Use Nessus Security Center to assess vulnerabilities, validate compliance, and support corrective‑action workflows
• Support enforcement of network security policies, containment strategies, and secure operational practices
• Ensure designs meet federal cybersecurity expectations for highly sensitive environments

Network Monitoring & Performance Management
• Monitor and optimize network performance using CloudVision, MFNA (MicroFocus Network Automation), and WhatsUp Gold
• Diagnose and resolve complex network performance issues across distributed and international mission sites
• Track metrics, trends, and utilization to support capacity planning and strategic modernization efforts

Troubleshooting & Operations Support
• Resolve complex voice, data, and video issues across remote, multi‑national, and cross‑organizational environments
• Initiate critical actions to ensure network availability and mission stability during outages or performance impacts
• Coordinate outage notifications, incident response, and network recovery with partner organizations and external entities
• Troubleshoot multi‑vendor interdependencies involving routing, switching, wireless, load balancing, and transport technologies

Leadership, Collaboration & Documentation
• Lead medium‑to‑large IT projects and major phases of enterprise modernization programs
• Collaborate with senior IT personnel, government leadership, vendors, and mission stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions
• Produce and update network diagrams, engineering artifacts, operational procedures, and customer‑facing materials
• Provide direction and mentorship to cross‑functional engineering teams and contractors

Consulting & Analytical Support
• Deliver highly specialized guidance and forward‑leaning solutions to complex network engineering challenges
• Conduct detailed technical analyses, produce executive‑level reports, and brief government leadership
• Support enterprise modernization initiatives through requirements analysis, risk identification, and scalable architecture recommendations
• Manage project work as defined by government stakeholders and maintain alignment with mission priorities


Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held - no sponsorship)
• High School/GED + 20 years relevant experience
• Associate’s degree + 15 years
• Bachelor’s degree + 12 years
• Extensive experience with Arista, Aruba, Plexxi, Dell, F5, and enterprise monitoring tools (CloudVision, MFNA, WhatsUp Gold)
• Experience applying STIG, STE/STN, and vulnerability management practices using Nessus Security Center
• Proven ability to lead complex IT engineering projects and deliver specialized technical guidance
