Job Description
NineFX is seeking two Systems Engineer V professionals to serve as senior technical authorities for enterprise storage engineering across large, mission‑critical government environments. This role provides specialized consulting, advanced architecture design, and leadership of complex modernization initiatives while engineering, optimizing, and securing NetApp storage, backup, and replication ecosystems.
Hands‑on NetApp expertise is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Storage Engineering
• Provide hands‑on engineering support for NetApp SAN/NAS storage systems
• Configure, optimize, and manage storage using S3, CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel block protocols
• Conduct capacity planning, sizing, and performance tuning for enterprise backup and storage platforms including Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik, and CommVault
• Support datacenter migrations, storage replication technologies, and multi‑platform storage integration
• Integrate storage arrays with hypervisors such as Nutanix, VMware VCF, and OpenStack
Systems Architecture & High Availability
• Design and implement enterprise storage architectures supporting resiliency, durability, scalability, and high availability
• Ensure proper configuration and tuning of hardware components including disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, and performance subsystems (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls)
• Oversee installation, upgrades, lifecycle engineering, and modernization of storage hardware and software
• Evaluate emerging storage technologies and support forward‑looking planning for future mission requirements
Security & Compliance
• Apply federal hardening requirements including FISMA, STIG, and agency‑specific security baselines
• Utilize Nessus Security Center for vulnerability identification, remediation tracking, and compliance validation
• Ensure secure configuration and operational integrity across storage ecosystems in accordance with mission and regulatory mandates
Operational Support & Documentation
• Diagnose and resolve complex storage, replication, and backup issues in distributed environments
• Provide on‑call support and incident response for critical systems
• Maintain comprehensive documentation including architecture diagrams, run books, SOPs, installation guides, lifecycle plans, and engineering artifacts
• Monitor and analyze storage utilization, performance metrics, and capacity trends
Consulting & Project Leadership
• Lead medium‑to‑large enterprise modernization efforts and major phases of IT engineering programs
• Provide specialized technical guidance and innovative solutions to complex IT challenges
• Conduct detailed analyses, prepare technical reports, and deliver briefings to government stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and federal personnel to evaluate, test, and integrate new technologies
• Demonstrate initiative, strong teamwork, and the ability to follow direction in high‑impact mission environments
Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI with Full‑Scope Polygraph (must already be held - no sponsorship)
• Extensive hands‑on experience with NetApp and enterprise storage systems (required)
• Bachelor’s degree + 12 years relevant experience
• Associate’s degree + 15 years relevant experience
• High School/GED + 20 years relevant experience
• IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP)
