Job Description
NineFX is seeking a Systems Engineer V to lead enterprise datacenter modernization initiatives, direct multi‑domain virtualization environments, and architect advanced NetApp storage solutions. This senior engineering role drives complex infrastructure projects, supports mission‑critical operations, and provides expert‑level direction across virtualization, storage, networking, OS platforms, and automation frameworks.
The position requires deep technical mastery of VMware, NetApp, cross‑platform operating systems, and large‑scale infrastructure automation, along with the ability to lead multi‑phase engineering efforts in high‑security federal environments.
Core Technologies

Key Responsibilities
Virtualization & Datacenter Engineering
• Lead engineering operations across multi‑domain, cross‑platform datacenter environments
• Install, configure, and administer VMware vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and NSX
• Engineer and support VMware vCloud environments for mission applications
• Optimize virtualization workloads on Cisco UCS platforms
Enterprise Storage Engineering (NetApp)
• Design, implement, and maintain NetApp Clustered ONTAP storage architectures
• Deploy SAN/LUN configurations, SnapCenter, SnapVault, replication, and backup workflows
• Support multi‑site storage availability, performance tuning, and lifecycle upgrades
Infrastructure Architecture & Modernization
• Lead medium‑to‑large infrastructure modernization projects
• Engineer HDI solutions aligned with evolving agency security requirements
• Provide technical decision support to government leadership
• Develop architecture improvements and operational efficiencies across datacenter systems
Operations, Troubleshooting & Tier Support
• Provide day‑to‑day operational support across servers, networks, storage, and cloud systems
• Perform Tier 1 & Tier 2 troubleshooting and escalation management
• Diagnose complex issues across virtualization, OS platforms, networks, and storage
• Deliver technical analysis, reporting, and feedback to mission leadership
Cross‑Platform OS & Automation
• Administer Linux, Windows, and MacOS enterprise systems
• Build GUI‑based deployment platforms for Linux/Windows provisioning
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Bash, PowerShell, PowerCLI, and APIs
Enterprise Network Support
• Deploy and maintain campus‑scale wired, wireless, and cellular network environments
• Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, and network architectures supporting virtualization and storage systems
Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI with Full‑Scope Polygraph (must already be held - no sponsorship)
• IAT Level II (Security+ CE, GSEC, CySA+, CCNA Security, or GICSP)
• High School/GED + 20 years experience
• Associate’s degree + 15 years
• Bachelor’s degree + 12 years
Required Experience & Technical Abilities
• Proven experience leading complex, enterprise‑scale IT infrastructure projects
• Expert‑level VMware experience (vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, NSX)
• Extensive experience designing, deploying, and managing NetApp storage architectures
• Strong experience administering Linux, Windows, and MacOS environments
• Hands‑on experience with automation (Bash, PowerShell, PowerCLI, APIs)
