Job Description

NineFX is seeking a System Engineer Level 3 to lead systems engineering, architecture development, and senior-level system administration activities across Linux, VMware, and automated infrastructure environments. This position evaluates requirements, designs enterprise system solutions, develops engineering documentation, and provides technical leadership for integration, testing, and lifecycle management of complex government systems.


Key Responsibilities

Systems Engineering & Architecture
• Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and high-level architectures to develop detailed system requirements and design specifications
• Lead system architecture development, integration planning, feasibility studies, and alternative approach assessments
• Prepare and maintain SE documentation including System Engineering Plans, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents
• Manage system and derived requirements to ensure alignment with DoDAF/SOA architectural standards
• Coordinate CCB actions, design reviews, program reviews, and test readiness activities
• Provide senior technical direction for development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software components
• Participate in cross‑discipline IPTs to design new capabilities and optimize system performance
• Develop verification methods, evaluation criteria, and system integration/test plans
• Support risk analysis, configuration management, lifecycle planning, and system baseline integrity
• Contribute to JCIDS documentation and certification/accreditation support

Linux, VMware & Automation Responsibilities
• Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Manage and optimize VMware virtualization platforms including VM provisioning, templates, virtual networking, and performance tuning
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation workflows to support provisioning, patching, configuration, and deployment
• Use Bash and Python scripting to support automation, configuration management, and operational tasks
• Ensure system reliability through automated configuration management and consistent environment enforcement


Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held)
• IAT Level II (Security+ CE, GSEC, CySA+, CCNA Security, or GICSP)
• 20+ years of Systems Engineering experience in similar scope and complexity
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering efforts and major system integration activities
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline
– Five additional years of Systems Engineering experience may substitute
• Strong experience with Linux administration, VMware virtualization, and Ansible automation
