We are pleased to announce the opening of a Digital Ecosystems Area Manager who will lead our software modernization capabilities and solutions portfolio operating across multiple government agencies and emerging technology marketplaces. This leadership role will oversee multiple program managers and technical leads, driving technical excellence, business development, and organizational growth across the Digital Ecosystems team. The Area Manager will be responsible for setting the technical vision, fostering innovation, ensuring business growth, and removing barriers to execution across their portfolio of programs and initiatives.
You will work primarily in Huntsville, AL with flexibility for travel to customer sites and strategic business development venues.
Responsibilities:
Technical Excellence & Technology Growth
Lead the technical vision and strategy for Digital Ecosystems, identifying emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions that position nSI at the forefront of innovation in software modernization
Ensure deep understanding and dissemination of cutting-edge technical capabilities, solutions, funding vehicles, business drivers, and customer profiles across the area
Champion dissemination of technical capabilities, past performance, and technical knowledge throughout the company and to customers
Provide technical oversight and guidance to program managers and technical leads, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and customer requirements
Financial Management & Business Development
Own profit and loss accountability for the Digital Ecosystems area, managing budgets, revenue performance, and cost effectiveness
Drive revenue growth and customer diversification within the area, identifying new market opportunities and expanding customer relationships
Actively manage and grow the business development pipeline, positioning nSI for competitive wins and long-term customer partnerships
Lead nSI visibility and promotion in public and customer-facing forums, representing the company's capabilities, expertise, and value proposition
People Leadership & Organizational Development
Develop, mentor, and guide staff within the Digital Ecosystems organization, fostering professional growth and career advancement opportunities
Coordinate and promote strategic staff deployment across the division and company, optimizing resource allocation and enabling knowledge sharing
Ensure team coverage across the area and division, managing capacity, capabilities, and continuity of operations
Build and maintain team cohesion, cultural alignment, and high retention rates while supporting program managers and technical leads
Program Execution & Barrier Removal
Proactively identify and remove organizational and technical barriers that impede progress, enabling teams to execute effectively and efficiently
Facilitate information flow across programs, teams, and leadership to ensure alignment, transparency, and rapid problem resolution
Oversee cost, schedule, and technical performance across the portfolio, ensuring customer satisfaction and program success

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or related technical disciplines
- 7+ years of experience in product or program management, leading complex technical programs and/or engineering organizations
- Experience managing cost, schedule, and technical performance on DoD or similarly complex programs
- Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in business development, proposals, and customer engagement
- Proven leadership of technical organizations with experience mentoring engineers and developing talent
- Strong customer engagement and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance is required

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree (Master's Degree or Ph.D.) in related technical field
- Background in cybersecurity, software architecture, systems engineering, or test and evaluation
- Experience with emerging technologies such as agentic workflows, cloud computing, artificial intelligence/machine learning, edge computing, or distributed systems
- Prior experience in government customer relationship management
- Experience building and scaling engineering teams and organizations
- Track record of leading successful business development initiatives and capturing new market segments
- Active security clearance
