The Athletic Trainer provides Holistic Health and Fitness (HHF) support to Airmen assigned to the Contingency Response Wing (CRW). This position supports human performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation, functional strength, mobility, and mission readiness through evidence-based athletic training practices tailored to the physical demands of contingency response operations.

The salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $80,000.00 annually.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Improve Airmen's mission-ready physical and mental performance and reduce preventable injuries.
- Enhance cognitive resilience, decision-making under stress, and fatigue management.
- Provide evidence-based HP programs tailored to the Contingency Response Wing mission sets including high-tempo, short-notice deployments. This includes ensuring Airmen possess the strength, endurance, mobility, and durability to perform rapid airbase assessment and opening, heavy load carriage, equipment movements, and aircraft handling, security operations in contested or degraded environments, extended operations with limited rest cycles, and high-tempo mobility tasks requiring repeated explosive effort.
- Provide portable, mission-specific HP guidance to Airmen before deployments, ensuring Airmen are fully equipped to maintain performance without contractor presence.
- Support sustained readiness across diverse Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSCs) by designing HP solutions that reflect the varied demand of CRW career fields. Each AFSC must receive mission-specific performance guidance, including field-ready sustainment options.
- Provide an integrated holistic evaluation for CRW Airmen and facilitate timely, responsiveness for strength & conditioning, functional strength, and mindfulness coaching.
- Provides guidance and support for injury rehabilitation and return-to-performance activities within the scope of practice.
- Works with strength and conditioning and mindfulness personnel to provide an integrated, holistic approach to Airmen performance and readiness.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrate the ability to pivot HP support with the same agility expected of CRW forces.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and military environments
- Ability to work in field conditions, including inclement weather and hours of darkness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Preferably a degree in sport psychology or sub-disciplines of intervention/performance enhancement, health/exercise psychology, cognitive psychology, counseling, and/or social psychology. Degree must be from a school recognized by professional accrediting organization, e.g., Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES), American Board of Sport Psychology, Association for Applied Sports Psychology (AASP), or American Psychological Association (APA).
- Minimum five years of athletic training experience
- Ability to be transported in Government-provided ground vehicles
- S. citizenship
- SECRET or provisional SECRET clearance prior to start
- Travel: CONUS travel may be required for meetings, conferences, training, and off-site training support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred degree/background in sport psychology or related performance-enhancement, health/exercise psychology, cognitive psychology, counseling, or social psychology disciplines
- Athletic Trainer certified through an accredited organization
