Supervisory Security Specialist

Duties

• Manages physical security programs, including access control, vulnerability identification, and protective measures.
• Supports antiterrorism/force protection and emergency preparedness activities and response planning.
• Conducts OPSEC assessments, deliver training, and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Oversees personnel security processes, including clearance requests, access rosters, and classified briefings.
• Provides intelligence updates and coordinate with law enforcement and external security agencies.
• Supervises staff, assign work, evaluate performance, and manage training needs.
• Develops and updates local security policies, procedures, directives, and written guidance.
• Coordinates inspections, security exercises, and emergency plans with internal and external partners.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting with physical security activities; identifying and recommending corrective actions for security vulnerabilities; supporting antiterrorism/force protection and emergency preparedness efforts;conducting OPSEC assessments or security training; monitoring security clearance and access control requirements; and coordinating with internal and external agencies on security operations, inspections, and compliance.
