Job Description

D9Tech Resources is seeking a senior Cloud Architect (Solutions Architect) to own architecture outcomes for a cleared Federal/DoD engagement from design through sustainment. This is a hands-on, approximately 500-hour consulting engagement paying $94-$110 per hour. The work is hybrid in Herndon and Arlington, Virginia, with required in-person participation. Candidates may live in surrounding areas, provided they can reliably travel to both locations, work onsite when required, and return home the same day.

What you will do

- Design, document, and sustain secure AWS cloud architectures for cleared Federal and DoD workloads.
- Build and evolve AWS landing-zone capabilities using AWS Landing Zone, AWS Control Tower, or Landing Zone Accelerator.
- Design and implement solutions using Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, and related AWS services.
- Author repeatable infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK.
- Apply the AWS Well-Architected Framework across all six pillars and the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF).
- Design event-driven architectures and develop supporting automation in Python.
- Produce clear architecture diagrams using draw.io, Lucidchart, or equivalent tools.
- Integrate RMF/ATO, least privilege, and documented, repeatable delivery into the architecture from the start.
- Work directly with customer engineering, security, and operations stakeholders to carry solutions from design through sustainment.

Required qualifications

- Active TS/SCI clearance at the time of application. This requirement is not waivable.
- 10 or more years of relevant, hands-on cloud architecture or solutions architecture experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Amazon EC2, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Landing Zone, Amazon S3, and AWS Lambda.
- Strong Python experience.
- Demonstrated application of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, including its six pillars.
- Experience with the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF).
- Hands-on AWS CDK experience.
- Demonstrated event-driven architecture experience.
- Ability to create and maintain architecture diagrams in draw.io, Lucidchart, or equivalent tools.
- Ability to work hybrid in Herndon and Arlington, Virginia, including required in-person work. This is not a fully remote position.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with Amazon EKS, Amazon VPC, AWS IAM, Amazon ECS, AWS Organizations, Amazon Route 53, Amazon RDS, AWS Transit Gateway, Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Direct Connect, or Amazon Aurora.
- Experience with AWS Control Tower or Landing Zone Accelerator.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (SAP-C02), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional (DOP-C02), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (SAA-C03).
- Experience conducting Well-Architected reviews.
- Polygraph.

Engagement

- Approximately 500 hours of level of effort.
- Contractor/consultant engagement paying $94-$110 per hour.
- Hybrid work with required in-person participation in Herndon and Arlington, Virginia.
- Candidates may live in surrounding areas but must be able to travel reliably to Herndon and Arlington and return home the same day when onsite work is required.
- This is not a fully remote position.
- No routine travel outside the required hybrid work locations.
