Contract Type: 40 hours/week contract position, anticipated to last 12 months or longer

Location: Remote (must reside within the contiguous United States); travel required for business needs

Key Requirement: Must have recent Nuclear QA Project Management experience along with expertise in ASME Section III

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance team at client place is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's quality assurance program, including supplier and internal oversight activities. Through direct and frequent communication with other groups, departments, and suppliers, this position provides guidance on compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements as well as Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. In support of the Project Manager, ASME Code, this role will likely involve interactions with the AIA, Code committees, and other stakeholders on behalf of Client

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, evaluates, and maintains client's quality assurance program processes, including writing instructions, procedures, and other requirement and guidance documents for the quality assurance program.
• Reviews client's Level 2 and higher procedures for compliance with the Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD - 10CFR50 Appendix B and other international standards) and Nuclear Quality Assurance Manual (NQAM - ASME Code Section III).
• Supports ASME Section III supplier qualification and implementation audits, including surveillances; internal quality assurance audits, surveillances, and assessments; may lead or participate in causal analyses. After becoming certified as a Lead Auditor, this responsibility will include leading audits as assigned.
• Provides support on various ASME Code Section III activities such as reviewing changes to the Code, assisting Quality Assurance personnel in evaluating Code supplier QA program documents, and reviewing client's procurement documents for Code items and services.
• Serves as primary Project Quality representative for 10CFR50 Appendix B and/or ASME Code Section III projects.
• Assists in providing formal and on-the-job Quality Assurance training to client staff.
• Serves as a mentor and technical resource by providing guidance, support, and education in the field of nuclear quality assurance to Quality Assurance personnel and other client personnel performing activities affecting quality.
• Participates in industry initiatives to develop and maintain knowledge of quality assurance functions as they relate to program trends, NRC concerns, and technological developments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: B.S. or B.A. required (technical degree preferred). In lieu of a degree, 18 years of total relevant full-time experience may be considered.
• Experience:
  
  
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in developing and/or implementing nuclear quality assurance programs.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience implementing an ASME BPVC Section III program, including certification of data reports and interfacing with Authorized Nuclear Inspectors.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ASME BPVC Section III, along with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, NQA-1, and related international regulations and standards.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to manage complex tasks and projects.

  • Current or previously certified Lead Auditor in an NQA-1 or 10 CFR 50 Appendix B program (candidate will need to become certified if not already).
  • Experience applying ISO 9001 requirements alongside NQA-1/Appendix B; international experience a plus.
• Industry Requirement: Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
