We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Information Systems Security Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. This role is critical to our organization's mission, requiring deep expertise in information security, system architecture, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain secure information systems and networks.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
- Manage security incidents and coordinate responses to ensure minimal impact on operations.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior security professionals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, FedRAMP).
- Stay current on emerging threats, technologies, and industry trends to proactively address security challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in information systems security, with a strong focus on engineering and architecture.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification required; other certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, OSCP) a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and security tools (Wireshark, Metasploit, Nessus).
- Strong understanding of secure software development practices and DevSecOps methodologies.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with government contracts or classified programs.
- Knowledge of specific industry sectors (e.g., defense, healthcare, finance).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms.
- Familiarity with incident response and digital forensics.
