Software Engineer – Agile DevSecOps
Location: Chantilly, VA 20151
Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Poly (FS Poly may satisfy where accepted by the customer)
Certifications: Required; Security+ CE at minimum where applicable, or other certification aligned to the assigned DoD 8140 work role
Position Summary
The Mid Software Engineer will develop software, scripts, automation, and integration components supporting cloud-based CI/CD, DevSecOps, and test automation capabilities. The engineer will work across software, infrastructure, identity, APIs, and containerized environments while applying disciplined engineering, testing, and documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop software, scripts, and integration components supporting CI/CD, test automation, DevSecOps, and cloud-based engineering environments.
• Build and maintain interfaces and automation using Python, PowerShell, Groovy, APIs, and related technologies.
• Support cloud architecture, containerized development, API gateways, identity services, and platform components.
• Apply software engineering rigor including version control, peer review, configuration management, testing, and documentation.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, system, and automated test plans.
• Troubleshoot software, pipeline, integration, and cloud-platform issues and support root-cause resolution.
• Decompose work into Agile/Jira stories and contribute to iterative development and release activities.
• Collaborate with systems, infrastructure, security, and customer teams to deliver secure and maintainable solutions.
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Current DoD 8140 qualification/certification appropriate to the assigned DCWF work role and proficiency level. Acceptable examples for this position may include: CompTIA Security+ CE, ISC2 CSSLP, ISC2 CISSP, CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+), ISC2 CCSP. Final acceptability is subject to the current DoD 8140 Qualification Matrix and prime contractor/customer work-role requirements.
• Current and active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph. Mandatory at time of submission.
• Expertise working developing software/scripting to support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), test automation and / or DevSecOps on iterative development projects.
• Solid ability to demonstrate solid software engineering rigor.
• Demonstrated experience with system testing and validation.
• Expert troubleshooting and solutioning skills.
• Experience with Cloud architecture and system design (prefer AWS, but will consider Azure).
• Strong documentation skills.
• Familiar with Agile Methodologies.
• Ability to accurately decompose tasks for Jira stories.
• Developing integration interfaces using Python, PowerShell, and Groovy.
• Experience and comfort with Basic DevOps Tooling (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab, Active Directory, IdAM, and LDAP).
• Familiarity with Containerized Development environments (Rancher, Kubernetes).
• Expertise with creating robust test plans.
• Ability to quickly get familiar with customer system security requirements and processes.
• Preparation and maintenance of system components.
• Experience with API Gateways, catalogs.
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced STEM degree or role-relevant technical certifications.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) infrastructure and tools.
• Experience with Cloud solution optimization.
• Experience configuring and instrumenting Virtualization tools (Grafana, Splunk).
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Other Cloud experience (Azure, Google, Oracle, IBM).
• Integration of virtualized applications and application streaming or layering techniques.
• Assist with leading and overseeing a total system perspective including technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of cloud services, infrastructure and security domains.
• SharePoint admin systems engineering experience.
• IBM Enterprise Lifecycle Management systems engineering experience.
• TeamWork Cloud/Cameo systems engineering experience.
• Tableau systems engineering experience.
