Job Description
At cb5, we are on a mission to find exceptional talent. Our tight-knit organization is led by five brothers, each technology leaders in their respective technical fields and driven to foster a culture of excellence through solidarity. We are seeking an Automation and AI Lead to stand up and lead the automation, orchestration and AI capability for a greenfield Department of Defense hybrid multi-cloud program. This team is on the front lines, shaping the systems that protect us from advanced threats. We are looking for highly motivated, results-oriented professionals who thrive on solving complex technical challenges in a dynamic environment.
Description of Duties:
The Atlassian Systems Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. In this role, you will bridge the gap between traditional enterprise application administration and modern cloud native systems engineering. You will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and scaling Atlassian applications within highly secure, containerized defense environments, serving as both the platform administrator and the infrastructure engineer. As an Atlassian Systems Administrator, you will lead system architecture, deployment automation, and modernization efforts.
Your duties will include:
Platform Orchestration & Modernization:
• Architect, deploy, and maintain Atlassian enterprise workloads (Jira, Confluence, Jira Align) utilizing containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes), ensuring high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.
Secure Environment Management:
• Manage and optimize Atlassian Enterprise applications deployed across secure DoD Level 5 (IL5) and Level 6 (IL6) environments.
Infrastructure Automation:
• Automate routine administration, patching, system checks, and deployments.
Enterprise Administration:
• Perform day-to-day operational tasks, including backend support, system performance tuning, database integrations, and complex application configuration.
Security & Compliance:
• Execute secure application updates, system patching, and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIG updates to ensure strict system compliance and a robust security posture.
Technical Escalation:
• Serve as the technical escalation point for complex troubleshooting, log analysis, system level failures, and application integration issues.
Change Management:
• Author, coordinate, and track technical Remedy-based Change Requests for major application updates, architectural modifications, and new service deployments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Partner with cross-functional engineering and security teams to translate mission requirements into scalable technical solutions and customized workflows.
Basic Requirements:
• Must have 6, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
• Must have 3, or more, years of systems administration or DevOps engineering experience.
• Must have 2, or more, years of hands-on experience deploying, monitoring, and managing production workloads in Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or higher).
• Must have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance
• Must be able to obtain, and maintain, an active DoW Top Secret Security clearance
Desired Requirements:
• Have an active DoD Top Secret (TS) or TS/SCI clearance
• Have 1, or more, industry certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers and Kubernetes.
• Have Atlassian expertise with strong experience configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting Atlassian Data Center applications (Jira, Confluence) hosted on Kubernetes.
• Have a deep understanding of Cloud Computing architectures (AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government) within DoD IL5/IL6 boundaries.
• Be proficient with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and system monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
