Sr. Systems Engineer - Platform/Infrastructure

Location: Chantilly, VA 20151

Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Poly (FS Poly may satisfy where accepted by the customer)

Certifications: Required; Security+ CE at minimum where applicable, or other certification aligned to the assigned DoD 8140 work role

Position Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer - Platform/Infrastructure will engineer and sustain Linux-based cloud infrastructure and enterprise COTS applications supporting the program digital engineering environment. The role spans cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code, containers, databases, identity, workflow integration, testing, observability, and complex troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
• Engineer, configure, deploy, and sustain Linux-based cloud infrastructure and COTS applications supporting enterprise digital engineering capabilities.
• Design and implement cloud architecture, platform services, databases, identity integrations, and automation components.
• Use Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and DevOps tooling to create repeatable, secure platform deployments.
• Support containerized environments using technologies such as Rancher and Kubernetes.
• Integrate infrastructure and applications with ServiceNow or other workflow, case, ticketing, and automation platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application, database, identity, and integration issues using logs and observability data.
• Develop and execute system test and validation activities and maintain configuration and technical documentation.
• Collaborate across cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, and customer teams to maintain a reliable end-to-end environment.

Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Current DoD 8140 qualification/certification appropriate to the assigned DCWF work role and proficiency level. Acceptable examples for this position may include: CompTIA Security+ CE, ISC2 CISSP, ISC2 CCSP, CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+), ISC2 SSCP, CompTIA Cloud+. Final acceptability is subject to the current DoD 8140 Qualification Matrix and prime contractor/customer work-role requirements.
• Current and active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph. Mandatory at time of submission.
• Expertise working with Linux platforms and COTS applications in Linux cloud environments.
• Ability to demonstrate solid engineering rigor.
• Expert troubleshooting and solutioning skills, including investigating log files to discover root-cause for challenges.
• Experience with Cloud architecture and system design.
• Experience working with relational and/or non-relational databases e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
• Experience architecting or integrating with workflow, case or ticketing, or automation platforms such as ServiceNow or custom-built systems.
• Knowledge of IDAM requirements and technologies including Active Directory, SAML, OpenLDAP, OAuth 2.0, and/or OIDC.
• Demonstrated experience with system testing and validation.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Experience and comfort with DevOps tooling (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab).
• Familiarity with Containerized Development environments (Rancher, Kubernetes).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly and succinctly describe complex issues.

Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced STEM degree or role-relevant technical certifications.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience with Cloud solution optimization.
• Experience configuring and instrumenting visualization tools (Grafana, Splunk).
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Familiarity with customer system security requirements and processes.
• Integration of virtualized applications and application streaming or layering techniques.
• Assist with leading and overseeing a total system perspective including technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of cloud services, infrastructure and security domains.
• Experience designing APIs such as REST or GraphQL and event-driven systems.
• Experience with DevOps testing.
• Experience with maintaining API Gateways, catalogs in a cloud-based environment.
• Experience integrating complex systems using APIs, message queues, streaming platforms, and ETL pipelines.
• Other Cloud experience (Azure, Google, Oracle, IBM).
