Hybrid Remote CAD Drafter/Engineering Tech
Clearance - Secret clearance (We can initiate a Secret clearance)
Location: Dahlgren, VA
Hybrid remote (2 days remote)
Mon-Fri Days
Some GD&T knowledge is highly desired, even if it's only scholastic experience.
CAD Drafter / Engineering Technician
We are seeking an experienced CAD Drafter to provide technical drafting and modeling support to engineering teams working on weapon system development, integration, and testing. The ideal candidate has strong CAD, mechanical drafting, and GD&T experience and can work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Requirements
• High School Diploma/GED required
• 7+ years of drafting experience
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD
• Strong mechanical drafting and GD&T knowledge
• Experience supporting hardware development projects
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, technical standards, and MIL-SPEC documentation
Responsibilities
• Create 2D/3D CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, layouts, and technical documentation
• Develop fabrication and assembly drawings for prototypes and production hardware
• Apply dimensions, tolerances, materials, and GD&T to engineering drawings
• Update as-built drawings and maintain configuration baselines
• Support engineers with design changes, fit checks, layouts, and engineering reviews
• Interpret engineering requirements, sketches, and design concepts
• Maintain drawing revisions and controlled engineering data
• Ensure technical drawings comply with DoD standards and configuration management requirements
• Coordinate with vendors and engineering teams to ensure technical requirements are met
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate's degree or CAD/Drafting certificate
• Experience supporting DoD, defense contractor, or weapon system programs
• Experience with PDM, SharePoint, and engineering data management systems
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
