Job Summary
JCS Solutions is seeking a NMCCSystems Engineer to design, implement, manage, and monitor existing and new systems within the National Military Command Center (NMCC). The successful candidate will work closely with systems administrators, cybersecurity personnel, multimedia engineers, telecommunications engineers, and government stakeholders to support mission-critical operations. This role requires experience with VMware environments, Windows Server administration, Linux operating systems, systems integration, troubleshooting, cybersecurity best practices, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly secure TS/SCI environment located at the Pentagon.

What you will do:
  • Designing, implementing, managing and monitoring of existing and new systems within the National Military Command Center.
  • Working with a team of other systems engineers and systems administrators to resolve issues, implement patches, updates, and report progress to supervisor and stakeholders.
  • Making entries within the Remedy ticketing system to document the work that is being accomplished on a regular basis.
  • Developing schedules/timelines for the work that is required to be reviewed by leadership.
  • Working with other teams to include system administration, multimedia engineers, telecommunications engineers, etc. in a collaborative effort in designing and troubleshooting systems.
  • Briefing status updates or presenting problems and solutions to government and DOD personnel.
  • Explaining technical issues to non-technical personnel in a professional manner.
  • Work alongside system administrators responsible for the Information Systems (IS) within the National Military Command Center (NMCC).
  • Provide solutions based on system requirements and work with multiple teams to develop solutions to technical issues that arise.
  • Draft/review Engineering Installation Plans for IT requirements supporting the NMCC.
  • Work directly with third party vendors to discuss IT solutions/integration with mission critical systems within the NMCC.
  • Establish baseline hardware/software configuration for IT networks within the NMCC.
  • Assist with System Administrators implementation, security, privileges, and regular maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and produce documentations, SOPs, reports, and presentation slide decks.
  • Work closely in conjunction with our Cybersecurity teams to harden our systems in accordance with DISA guidelines and best practices.
  • A cybersecurity and risk management mindset are of paramount importance in the NMCC environment.
  • Work closely with our cybersecurity teams to manage and minimize risk.

What you will bring:
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Required Security Clearance: TS/SCI.
  • DoD 8750.01 IAT Level II Certifications: at a minimum, one of the following: Security+ CE (Preferred), CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
  • BS Degree in Information Technology and 8 years work experience can be in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of four years' experience, of which at least three years must be specialized experience in administrating computer systems.
  • General experience includes operations experience on a large-scale computer system or a multi-server local area network.
  • Candidate must be able to explain technical issues to non-technical personnel and in a professional manner.
  • Experience with Secure Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) hardening practices.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems (Red Hat and CentOS).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with other highly skilled and diverse individuals.
  • Extensive experience with VMware deployments, to include migration of VMs from Hyper-V to VMware, and building out a comprehensive VMware solution from start to finish utilizing advanced features such as High Availability and Fault-Tolerance.
  • Extensive experience with managing Windows Server 2022 and 2019 domain environments, to include Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Experience building out and managing VMware environments.
  • Experience building and testing Group Policy.
  • Experience working closely with Cybersecurity teams to harden systems in accordance with DISA guidelines and best practices.
  • Demonstrated cybersecurity and risk management mindset with experience managing and minimizing risk in secure environments.
  • Strong project management and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, requirements, and operational needs.
  • Experience developing system designs and implementing solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Extensive experience with VMware and Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • High-level Systems Engineering experience supporting systems through all phases of the lifecycle, including technology refreshes, server migrations, and modernization efforts.
  • Experience integrating systems in complex enterprise environments.
  • Flexible and agile mindset with the ability to support evolving mission requirements.
  • Experience developing, executing, and documenting test plans, test schedules, and scripted tasks to maintain system protection and availability.
  • Experience supporting VMware-hosted environments and Veeam backup solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve server and application issues.
  • Experience documenting solutions for recurring issues and developing internal knowledge bases.
  • Experience supervising and managing the configuration and operation of business systems in mainframe, mini, client/server, or enterprise environments.
  • Experience optimizing system operations, resource utilization, capacity analysis, and planning.
  • Experience supporting users in accessing and utilizing business systems effectively.
  • A master's degree in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software engineering/programming, management, natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics, or business/finance and three years general experience, of which at least two years must be specialized experience. OR No degree and eight years general experience, of which six years is specialized experience.

At JCS Solutions, compensation is based on a number of factors such as location, qualifications, and applicable contract terms. The general salary range for this position is as follows: $80,000.00 to $115,000.00
