The Opportunity:

We are seeking highly skilled Force Protection Plans and Operations Integrator to join our team supporting USAFRICOM's Force Protection & Mission Assurance Division (J34). The ideal candidates will play a pivotal role in integrating, developing, coordinating, synchronizing, and advising on contingency plans and theater-entry policies to preserve mission effectiveness across USAFRICOM's area of responsibility.

Responsibilities:
  • Integrate, develop, coordinate, synchronize, and advise on AFRICOM contingency plans; analyze programs and policies spanning Antiterrorism (AT), Law Enforcement, Detainee Operations, Physical Security, Theater Clearance, and Operations Security (OPSEC).
  • Schedule, track, issue task orders, allocate resources, and facilitate actions to achieve mission goals and program objectives while maintaining short- and long-term planning calendars.
  • Represent J34's Force Protection Branch in working groups, team meetings, Future Operations (FUOPS) planning, exercise design, and Contingency OPLAN planning-ensuring protection functions are integrated with command intent.
  • Analyze and distill complex issues related to protection across the AFRICOM AOR; develop and present concepts, plans, annexes, and procedures to ensure Protection requirements are synchronized and implemented in peacetime, contingency, and wartime missions.
  • Provide guidance on protection functions through command-level planning groups; present courses of action and recommendations and integrate requirements into the Mission Assurance Coordination Board
  • Synchronize DoD Theater Entry requirements per the Foreign Clearance Guide (FCG) with AFRICOM staff and Service Components; serve as the command's expert for foreign travel clearances.
  • Verify pre-deployment certifications; approve or deny theater clearance requests based on regulations, directives, threat levels, and theater strategy.
  • Prepare, release, and transmit theater clearance messages; rapidly communicate time-sensitive information on force protection and force tracking requirements to leadership.
  • Advise customers on policies and procedures for travel requests, processing, and reporting theater clearance information.
  • Ensure the staffing and approval of Status Protection Waivers (SPWs) for countries lacking SOFA or other legal protections for U.S. personnel.
  • Organize and lead HQ and Service Component working groups in response to taskings; prepare briefings, policy letters, reports, messages, SOPs, and correspondence related to theater entry requirements.
  • Support briefs to the Director of Operations (General Officer, O 7), MILGRP commanders, senior executives, and component representatives on theater entry matters.


Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • Master's degree in security Operations or a related discipline with 6 years' experience; or Bachelor's Degree with 10 years experience; or, 15 years experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise across AT, Law Enforcement, Detainee Operations, Physical Security, Theater Clearance, and OPSEC, with a strong ability to integrate these domains into operational planning.
  • Proven experience representing protection equities in FUOPS, exercise planning, and Contingency OPLAN forums and producing protection planning artifacts (concepts, plans, annexes, procedures).
  • Hands-on experience with theater-entry processes: interpreting the Foreign Clearance Guide, verifying pre-deployment certifications, approving/denying theater clearances, and releasing clearance messages.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional working groups and author policy letters, SOPs, and executive-ready briefing materials.
  • Excellent analytical, coordination, and communication skills with the capacity to brief senior leaders and deliver time-sensitive protection information.
