Overview
We are seeking a DevSecOps & Azure Consultant to join Microsoft Federal and support the delivery of secure, cloud-first solutions for U.S. Government customers.
Microsoft Federal was established to address the unique mission, compliance, security, and procurement requirements of the United States Government (USG). Our teams work directly with federal agencies to design, deploy, and operate mission-critical solutions in highly regulated environments.
As a DevSecOps & Azure Consultant, you will work alongside cloud architects, platform engineers, and security professionals to help customers modernize infrastructure, automate delivery pipelines, and implement secure cloud platforms in Microsoft Azure. This role is ideal for an early-career consultant who is passionate about cloud engineering, automation, platform operations, cybersecurity, and infrastructure as code.
You will gain hands-on experience with Azure services, DevSecOps practices, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and secure workload deployment within government environments.
This role is focused on developing the next generation of Azure and DevSecOps consultants who can help federal customers modernize legacy environments, accelerate secure cloud adoption, and deliver mission-critical capabilities through automation, platform engineering, and security-first practices.
Participates in the pre-sale process as needed. Helps scope the project by sharing customer or technical knowledge in their specialty domain by leveraging their expertise as a subject matter expert. Maintains tools with up-to-date skills and availability. Participates in and/or may lead meetings with customers/partners to understand their business needs and/or scenario they are trying to solve. Engages others appropriately to understand and define customer requirements. Communicates the business value of planned solutions to customers/ partners with direction/guidance. Implements mitigations on technical and business risks. Manages their schedule and communicates to project leads. Delivers against Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Oversees aspects of implementation. Acts as an ambassador in consumption of intellectual property (IP) and leverages IP in projects. Proactively assists in the creation of intellectual property content and seeks areas that are available for more IP. Communicates areas that need refreshing or gaps in intellectual property. Completes operational tasks and readiness and ensures timeliness and accuracy while maintaining adherence to security standards through Delivery Compliance, Privacy, and Security (DCPS). Follows Microsoft policies, compliance, and procedures (e.g., Enterprise Services Authorization Policy, Standards of Business Conduct, labor logging, expenses, travel guidelines).
Pre-Sales Support
Participates in the pre-sale process as needed. Helps scope the project by sharing customer or technical knowledge in their specialty domain by leveraging their expertise as a subject matter expert.
Readiness
Learns new technologies or services based on business demands and industry trends and evaluates their impact on security posture, revisiting the Industry Solutions Delivery (ISD) Learning Portfolio for Security to deepen understanding of security considerations. Obtains relevant accreditations and certification(s) as advised by the domain leadership team. Shares experiences, best practices, and product news within the team. Participates in relevant technical communities at Microsoft.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) work experience in relevant area of business OR equivalent experience.

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
• The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.

• Clearance Verification:

Additional or preferred qualifications
3+ years work experience in relevant area of business.
Technical certifications based on domain/service line (e.g., Azure, Security, Dynamics).
Delivery Management certification (e.g., Scrum, Agile, Change Management, Project Management).
1-3 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, software engineering, or a related technical field
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services, including compute, networking, identity, storage, and monitoring
Experience with scripting or programming languages such as PowerShell, Python, C#, Bash, or JavaScript
Understanding of source control systems and Git-based workflows
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, ARM Templates, Terraform, or similar tools
Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and automation platforms such as Azure DevOps or GitHub
Familiarity with Linux and Windows administration fundamentals
Working knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, or cloud-native architectures is a plus
Interest in cloud security, compliance, Zero Trust principles, and secure software delivery
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

- Support Azure cloud engineering and DevSecOps initiatives for Microsoft Federal customers
- Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and operation of Azure-based environments and services
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git-based workflows
- Support containerized workloads and platform services, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Help integrate security controls, vulnerability scanning, and compliance requirements throughout the software delivery lifecycle
- Monitor cloud environments and assist with troubleshooting infrastructure, deployment, and application issues
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, cybersecurity teams, and customer stakeholders to deliver mission-focused solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical design discussions, and peer reviews
