Summary:
The Public Health Analyst III will work across DGHP branches and country offices to collect and synthesize information, identify emerging opportunities and threats, support data-informed decision-making, and contribute to strategic planning and program reporting. The position will also provide advanced support for the development of presentations, reports, fact sheets, briefs, talking points, issue summaries, infographics, data visualizations, digital content, and other informational products.
In addition, the Public Health Analyst III will support internal meeting design, M365 and SharePoint content development, data visualization, knowledge sharing, and process improvement activities. The position requires strong analytical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate technical and programmatic information into clear, actionable, and visually compelling products for both technical and non-technical audiences.
The successful candidate will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence while maintaining close coordination with DGHP leadership and program stakeholders. The position will regularly translate complex public health and global health information into actionable recommendations, strategic insights, and professional informational products that support DGHP's mission and priorities.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Public Health Analysis and Program Strategy:
- Provide advanced analytical and strategic support to DGHP OD on public health priorities, program initiatives, and operational requirements.
- Conduct research and analysis of domestic and global health issues, trends, policies, and developments that may affect DGHP programs.
- Analyze global health trends and integrate findings into strategic planning, program reporting, and leadership decision-making.
- Assess potential risks, opportunities, and implications associated with emerging issues and trends.
- Synthesize information from field offices, country offices, partners, technical experts, and other sources into concise and actionable recommendations.
- Engage with DGHP branches and country offices to gather information and perspectives supporting strategic planning and program development.
- Support the development of strategies, tools, and approaches aligned with DGHP's top-line priorities.
- Provide data-informed recommendations to support program planning, management, and operational decision-making.
Environmental Scanning and Monitoring:
- Conduct ongoing environmental scanning and monitoring of news, position papers, partner updates, publications, public health developments, and other relevant sources.
- Identify emerging issues, trends, opportunities, and potential threats relevant to DGHP's domestic and international priorities.
- Prepare weekly environmental scanning summaries highlighting significant developments and potential implications for DGHP programs.
- Evaluate information from multiple sources to identify trends, relationships, and issues requiring leadership attention.
- Translate environmental scanning findings into actionable insights, recommendations, and strategic considerations.
- Maintain organized records of relevant findings and sources to support ongoing analysis and institutional knowledge.
Informational Design and Communications:
- Provide informational design support to DGHP OD on strategic priorities, program initiatives, and operational requirements.
- Develop and format presentations, report-outs, programmatic summaries, reports, posters, infographics, fact sheets, and other informational products.
- Translate complex public health, scientific, and programmatic information into clear and compelling products for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop key messages and informational materials aligned with DGHP programmatic goals.
- Write and produce fact sheets, briefs, talking points, issue summaries, educational materials, and other internal and external products.
- Organize and distill stories, images, data, and technical information into cohesive narratives.
- Support the development of educational materials, content guides, and communication resources.
- Ensure informational products accurately represent DGHP priorities, scientific contributions, program outcomes, and global health initiatives.
Data Visualization and Analytics:
- Support the development and implementation of data visualization strategies and tools.
- Advise DGHP stakeholders on appropriate approaches for presenting complex data to leadership and other audiences.
- Develop charts, graphics, dashboards, and other visual representations of public health, programmatic, and operational information.
- Support the design and deployment of data analytics and visualization solutions that strengthen management and operations.
- Analyze programmatic and engagement data to identify trends and inform strategic adjustments.
- Translate data and analytical findings into accessible and actionable visual products.
Digital and Multimedia Content:
- Assist with the development of digital informational content ranging from approximately 1-10 minutes in length.
- Develop digital content highlighting technical achievements, program outcomes, global health initiatives, and other DGHP priorities.
- Support the integration of text, imagery, data, graphics, and other multimedia elements into cohesive digital products.
- Develop content appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capture and provide professional visual documentation of key meetings, field activities, program events, and other activities to support archiving, reporting, communications, and knowledge sharing.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track reach, uptake, engagement, and other relevant performance indicators associated with communications materials and initiatives.
- Compile and analyze metrics to assess the effectiveness of informational products and engagement activities.
- Prepare metric reports and summaries for leadership and program stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for improvement based on performance data and stakeholder feedback.
- Support strategic adjustments to communications, informational products, and engagement approaches based on monitoring and evaluation findings.
M365 and SharePoint Support:
- Assist with the analysis, research, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of materials supporting DGHP's M365 and SharePoint applications.
- Support the development and design of internal digital information strategies and materials across DGHP.
- Develop and maintain digital content, templates, reference materials, and other resources that facilitate internal collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with organizing and structuring information within M365 and SharePoint to improve accessibility and usability.
- Identify opportunities to improve information management, content workflows, and internal knowledge-sharing processes.
- Develop practical digital solutions to address identified management and operational gaps.
Internal Meeting Design and Technical Support:
- Provide design and technical support for internal meetings, briefings, workshops, and events.
- Develop meeting templates, presentation materials, visual aids, briefing products, and collaboration tools.
- Support meeting design and implementation to improve efficiency, engagement, and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with the development of digital resources and collaboration tools used during internal meetings.
- Support meeting documentation, information capture, and development of follow-up materials.
- Coordinate with DGHP stakeholders to ensure meeting materials accurately reflect divisional priorities and technical contributions.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze existing processes, information flows, and operational practices to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop design solutions, templates, workflows, and other tools to address management and operational gaps.
- Recommend improvements that increase efficiency, improve access to information, and strengthen internal coordination.
- Support the implementation of standardized processes and tools across DGHP.
- Apply analytical and design-thinking approaches to improve how DGHP develops, manages, presents, and shares information.
Accessibility and Production Support:
- Produce professional printable documents and informational products, including production quantities of up to 1,000 units as required.
- Ensure applicable federal publications and informational products comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Review products for accuracy, consistency, accessibility, formatting, and visual quality prior to distribution.
- Coordinate production and distribution requirements with DGHP stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism, Public Policy, Public Health, Graphic Design/Multimedia Studies, or related fields
- Minimum 4-7 years' experience (within the last two years) in fields related to integrated strategic media implementation, stakeholder engagement, public policy, public health, journalism or data visualization or design.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing, synthesizing, and communicating complex information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience developing professional written, digital, and visual communications products.
- Experience conducting research, environmental scanning, or trend analysis.
- Experience developing data visualizations and using data to support decision-making.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint is preferred.
- Experience developing materials that comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Experience conducting environmental scans and translating current events or emerging trends into strategic recommendations.
- Experience developing products for senior or executive leadership.
- Experience with data analytics, visualization, dashboard development, or business intelligence tools.
- Experience developing or maintaining SharePoint sites, pages, libraries, workflows, or M365 solutions.

- Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or other federal public health programs.
