Job Description
• Company: Northrop Grumman
• Position: Systems Analyst RA
• Location: 9975 Federal Drive
• Duration: long term, ongoing contract – we are a direct sub to the C2BMC program
• Clearance: Secret, will hold TS if you already have it
• Program – C2BMC
"Position Responsibilities The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is an essential part of the Missile Defense System. It provides a critical operational platform that enables the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and Combatant Commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, providing an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities. The successful candidate will work with the C2BMC Regional Applications Analysis team working with the C2BMC Chief Analyst. If you are a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise, a proven track record of high impact analysis programs, and a passion for advancing U.S. missile defense capabilities, we encourage you to apply for this pivotal role.
Essential Functions: Define and execute the analytical roadmap for C2BMC software verification, validation, and performance optimization across development, test, and operational phases. Lead complex, multidisciplinary root cause investigations of software behavior, sensor/weapon integration anomalies, and emergent system-of-systems issues; champion corrective action plans and track resolution metrics. Serve as a primary liaison between C2BMC engineers, DoD senior leaders, test ranges, and external partners; facilitate technical reviews, briefing packages, and decision-making forums. Mentor and coach junior analysts and software engineers; establish best practice standards for data analytics, model-based systems engineering, and reproducible research. Align analysis deliverables with missile defense acquisition milestones; contribute to Integrated Product Teams and capture technical risk metrics for program reporting.
Basic Qualifications Generally has 8+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline. Requires progressive experience in systems analysis, software verification, or model-based analysis of complex defense-grade C2, sensor, or weapon systems. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred. Proven record of producing authoritative analysis reports for large-scale, real-time systems (performance, reliability, functional behavior). Expert-level proficiency in MATLAB or a comparable language (Python (NumPy/Pandas/Matplotlib), etc). Excellent analytical abilities and the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, stakeholders, and customers. Understanding of systems and software engineering processes, principles, and lifecycles. Mastery of Linux command line, Bash scripting, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins).Superior written and oral communication abilities; comfortable briefing senior DoD officials, executives, and technical peers. Demonstrated mentorship of junior staff and the ability to influence decisions in a fast-paced environment. Active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret eligibility highly desirable).
Preferred Qualifications In-depth experience with missile defense battle management architectures, IR/RF sensor tracking, intercept engagement modeling, and space domain awareness. Strong mathematical background in probability theory, stochastic processes, control theory, and multi-body dynamics. Experience working in Agile Scrum environments; hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, and secure DevSecOps practices. Led development of automated assessment suites for real-time C2 software, including hardware in the loop (HIL) and software in the loop (SIL) environments. Designed reusable analysis libraries, parsers, and data ingestion pipelines in Python, MATLAB, or Java; contributed to DoD-approved or open-source toolsets. Expertise in object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance-tuned SQL/NoSQL database queries. Advanced data science skills, including statistical modeling, time series analysis, machine learning techniques, and interactive visualization (e.g., Plotly, D3.js).Publications, technical reports, or patents related to missile defense analytics, C2 architectures, or advanced data analysis methods.
Other Travel: Up to 10?% domestic/international travel to test ranges, partner sites, and stakeholder briefings."
