The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a Engineering Technician to support our client and will apply adept technical knowledge and practical engineering concepts, processes, and methods to the integration, testing, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and sustainment of complex hardware, software, RF, networking, and integrated product solutions supporting the Tactical Integrated Ground System (TIGS) and related Department of Defense missions.

This position provides hands-on technical support across depot, laboratory, field, and operational environments. The Engineering Technician supports system deployment and installation, operational checkout, acceptance testing, fault isolation, repair and refurbishment validation, configuration verification, technical documentation, and customer training. The position interfaces directly with Engineering, Product Support, Government customers, operators, maintainers, OEMs, and vendor support organizations to maintain technical knowledge and resolve complex system problems.

The ideal candidate is an experienced SATCOM and systems integration professional capable of rapidly diagnosing and restoring mission-critical communications systems in CONUS and OCONUS environments, while also serving as a trusted technical advisor and instructor to Government customers and contractor teammates.

Responsibilities:

System Integration, Deployment & Operational Support

• Lead and support deployment, installation, integration, setup, and operational checkout of TIGS and related tactical or strategic communications systems.

• Support prototype integration, demonstrations, engineering evaluations, operational testing, and fielding activities.

• Integrate hardware, software, RF, networking, antenna, timing, power, and environmental-control subsystems into complete operational solutions.

• Provide responsive field engineering support to diagnose and restore mission-critical communications capability.

• Support, development and operational exercises, system recovery efforts, and other customer-directed technical activities.

Troubleshooting, Maintenance & Repair

• Diagnose complex system and component failures using electrical schematics, OEM technical manuals, engineering drawings, technical procedures, and system documentation.

• Perform fault isolation and root cause analysis across RF communications, signal distribution, networking, antenna, power, environmental-control, and timing subsystems.

• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance and support repair-versus-replace recommendations as required.

• Perform cable fabrication, connector repair, soldering, weatherization, continuity testing, and related hands-on repair activities.

• Perform calibration support, sweep testing, inspection, and validation of RF cables, waveguide assemblies, and communications hardware.

• Coordinate with OEM and vendor technical support organizations to resolve technical problems and maintain current system knowledge.

RF, Electrical & Network Test

• Conduct RF performance verification and fault isolation using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, network test equipment, and other RF/electrical test equipment.

• Verify signal paths, RF performance, network connectivity, timing, and subsystem interfaces against technical requirements and approved configurations.

• Support acceptance testing and post-repair validation of SATCOM and integrated communications equipment.

• Document test results, discrepancies, corrective actions, and final system status.

Depot Sustainment & Configuration Validation

• Perform depot-level validation, troubleshooting, acceptance testing, and return-to-service verification following repair or refurbishment.

• Support system inspections, maintenance planning, configuration validation, and readiness assessments.

• Verify installed hardware, software, cabling, interfaces, and configuration status against approved technical baselines.

• Document maintenance actions, corrective actions, configuration status, and unresolved technical risks in established program systems and records.

• Support engineering change implementation, technology refresh, modification, and sustainment activities as directed.

Technical Documentation & Engineering Support

• Provide technical analysis and support for the design, development, integration, testing, documentation, implementation, and sustainment of hardware, software, and integrated product solutions.

• Author, review, and improve technical procedures, maintenance instructions, troubleshooting guides, test procedures, and training materials.

• Capture field observations and operator feedback and translate them into actionable engineering, sustainment, and training recommendations.

• Provide technical guidance and recommendations to Engineering, Product Support, and Government stakeholders based on system performance and field experience.

Customer Training & Technical Instruction

• Deliver over-the-shoulder technical training, maintenance instruction, and operator familiarization during field support missions.

• Develop and deliver formal or informal training for operators, maintainers, and technical personnel.

• Support Train-the-Trainer events and institutional training activities.

• Evaluate operator and maintainer proficiency and provide technical mentorship when required.

• Communicate complex technical information clearly to technical and non-technical Government stakeholders.

Customer Interface & Team Coordination

• Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert for SATCOM troubleshooting, systems integration, and sustainment activities.

• Coordinate directly with Government customers, Engineering, Product Support, field support personnel, laboratories, and vendor/OEM representatives.

• Support customer briefings, technical reviews, demonstrations, problem-solving sessions, and readiness discussions.

• Provide technical leadership during field deployments and time-sensitive system recovery activities.

• Maintain compliance with established maintenance standards, operational procedures, cybersecurity requirements, and Government requirements.

Technical Competencies:

• MILSATCOM and Tactical SATCOM; TIGS / MIGS system integration and sustainment; RF communications and signal distribution.

• Satellite payload and space operations; systems integration and operational checkout; depot maintenance and field service engineering.

• Acceptance testing, configuration validation, root cause analysis, fault isolation, corrective and preventive maintenance.

• Spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, T-BERD test equipment, and RF/electrical test methods.

• Electrical schematics, technical documentation, cable fabrication, RF connector repair, continuity testing, and waveguide maintenance.

• Windows, Linux, TCP/IP networking, customer training, technical instruction, evaluation, mentorship, and cross-functional Government support.
