Overview
Our client, a leading aerospace and advanced propulsion technology organization, is seeking a Transient Performance Lead Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting next-generation commercial engine development and existing operational propulsion programs.
This role will be part of an engineering team focused on engine operability and transient analysis, supporting the design, development, testing, and validation of advanced gas turbine engines. The ideal candidate will have experience in engine performance analysis, systems engineering, and propulsion technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze engine transient characteristics using engine cycle models and simulation tools.
- Execute transient performance analyses to support engine design and development efforts.
- Conduct and support rig testing, ground tests, and flight engine testing activities.
- Correlate transient engine cycle model predictions with test data and operational performance.
- Lead and participate in transient validation design reviews.
- Perform technical analyses and evaluations that support program objectives and engineering requirements.
- Recommend solutions and approaches to meet technical and program goals.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project teams as needed.
- Ensure accurate documentation of engineering analyses, test results, and technical data.
- Monitor project status and communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, and program meetings as a presenter or reviewer.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 3 years of Systems Engineering, Propulsion Engineering, Performance Engineering, or related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Engine Performance, Operability Transient Analysis, Systems Engineering.
- Experience with aircraft engine system design and integration.
- Knowledge of aerodynamic compression components, including: Fans, Boosters, and Compressors.
- Experience with gas turbine engine performance modeling, cycle design, and analysis.
- Experience correlating simulation data with engine test results.
- Familiarity with engine validation and verification processes.
- Strong presentation and technical communication skills.
