We are seeking a talented Software Engineer with a strong Computer Science foundation to join a highly collaborative team developing a complex, cloud-based software planning system supporting a critical government mission.
This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated software spanning backend infrastructure, APIs, frontend web applications, system integration, testing, and quality assurance.
You’ll have meaningful ownership in designing and building maintainable, extensible software while working alongside experienced engineers, government stakeholders, and external development partners.
The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who cares about clean architecture, well-designed code, system integration, and delivering reliable software in a collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do
• Design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain complex software applications and infrastructure
• Develop backend services, APIs, and frontend web applications
• Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions
• Build well-designed, maintainable, scalable, and extensible code
• Integrate software components and systems developed by multiple teams and organizations
• Develop and maintain technical and software design documentation
• Participate in software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and quality assurance
• Work closely with a distributed engineering team, government stakeholders, and external development partners
• Communicate technical concepts and design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to the continued evolution and improvement of a sophisticated cloud-based software platform
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field
• 3+ years of professional software engineering or software development experience
• U.S. Citizenship with ACTIVE TS/SCI Clearance
• Strong experience with Java, TypeScript, and object-oriented programming
• Experience designing and implementing APIs and integrating software systems
• Familiarity with full-stack web application development
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and development best practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical designs and concepts
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-organization engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:
• MongoDB
• RabbitMQ
• Spring Boot
• React / Redux
• WebGL and/or OpenGL
• AWS
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Git and CI/CD
• DevSecOps
• User interface and UX development
• Formal software engineering documentation, including Software Design Descriptions and Interface Design Descriptions
• Software troubleshooting and system-level debugging
• Mathematics, particularly Probability/Statistics, Linear Algebra, and Multivariate Calculus
• Previous experience supporting the U.S. Navy or other Department of Defense organizations
Why This Opportunity?
This role offers the chance to work on technically challenging, mission-critical software where your engineering decisions have a direct impact on the success of a government program. You’ll work with a talented distributed development team while gaining exposure to modern cloud, full-stack, API, DevSecOps, and systems-integration technologies.
If you’re a software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building quality software, and working on meaningful technical challenges, we’d like to hear from you.
