Summary: Bridge Defense seeks a highly qualified Linux System Administrator to support for administration of the operational Cross Domain Solution (CDS) environment located at the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) in Monetary, California.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • All work will be performed on site
  • Support for administration of the operational Cross Domain Solution (CDS) environment located at FNMOC.
  • Perform regular review and maintenance of the CDS environment
  • Implement tasking and updates
  • Provide emergency break=fix support as needed
  • NOTE: There is an expectation that the performer will be able to reasonably respond to occasional after hours/weekend calls to provide support should CDS operations break during these periods. The ask is not for 24/7 support; and times where the performer would not be available for after hours support can be coordinated with the site lead and client. Client anticipates that the current approximate average of 4 hours of after-hours support per month will actually be less with consistent Linux administration support to the CDS systems that this position will be providing.
  • Tasking to include:
    • System Monitoring and Log Management
    • System Maintenance and Security
    • User Support and Account Management
    • Endpoint, Bridge Server, and Data Flow Administration


Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
  • Active TOP SECRET Clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science *or* CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Training in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • 3-years experience in RedHat Enterprise Linux administration
  • Knowledge of Apace NiFi software components and configuration
  • Experience with supporting Linux systems and subsystems, including storage and backup solutions, in an operational environment
  • Experience with provisioning Linux systems and performing operational testing
  • Experience with securing Linux systems using tools, including STIGS and vulnerability scanners
  • Knowledge of project management processes and documentation
  • Ability to draft technical documentation targeted at various reader levels, including users, operators, and system analysts

  • Ability to develop peer networks across an enterprise to maintain technology awareness and to support resolution of problems.
  • Ability to operate across traditional technical boundaries, comfortable working in the compute space as well as the storage space in an operational capacity.
  • Technically curious and driven to learn new skills.


General Factors:
  • Position is located onsite at Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC), Monterey, CA.
  • Depending on project requirements, may be required to work within a compressed schedule; overtime should be expected when schedules demand it.
  • Willing to travel; Ability to travel to Stennis Space Center for 2 one-week periods for training and minimally a 1-week trip for training at the start of the task
  • No Relocation.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk for long-periods and must be able to lift 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to multi-task and rapidly change priorities with limited notice.


Clearance: Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

Location: Monterey, CA

Salary Range: 110K - 125K
