The Opportunity

Neuma Consulting is hiring two Senior Full Stack Software Engineers to support the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) on a recently awarded 5-year contract, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to shape critical systems used across DIA.

Both roles share a common core: modern full stack development with Node.js and TypeScript in a classified environment, on small, highly capable teams within a broader engineering organization of 40+ developers. Where they differ is scope and focus—one is a platform and mentorship role serving all EPD applications, and the other is a product development role rebuilding EPD's flagship application.

Opening 1: Senior Application Developer — Foundational Services SME

This is not a single-application role. As our Foundational Services subject matter expert, your work sits at the core of the entire EPD application ecosystem—every authentication request, shared dataset, cross-domain interaction, and system integration depends on the services your team delivers. You will also serve as a technical leader, providing training and mentorship to two mid-level developers.

What You'll Do

Design, develop, and maintain shared enterprise services consumed by all EPD applications
Mentor and support two mid-level developers as the team's senior technical resource
Implement classification rollup and need-to-know (NTK) handling programmatically
Support cross-domain transfer processes (high-to-low)
Review server logs and consoles onsite to triage and debug production issues
Build and maintain GitLab CI pipelines and containerized deployments

Tech Stack: TypeScript, Angular, Node.js, NestJS, Express, Jest, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, GitLab CI Pipelines, Docker, OpenShift

A Great Fit If You: enjoy breadth over a single product, like mentoring others, and have experience with security-domain concerns like classification handling and cross-domain data movement. A recent CI Poly is strongly preferred—the system complexity here is difficult to absorb while remote.

Opening 2: Senior Application Developer — SOURCE Team

SOURCE is EPD's flagship application: the homepage across the Intelligence Community and the main platform for FINTEL. You will join the team building the next iteration of SOURCE—an interactive, AI-enabled application, migrating from virtual machines to a fully containerized architecture.

What You'll Do

Develop the new iteration of SOURCE as a full-stack engineer, front end to back end
Integrate AI-driven capabilities into the platform
Lead the transition from VM-based deployment to containers
Build an understanding of the existing SOURCE website—essential context for designing its successor
Collaborate with the team on architecture, code reviews, testing, and debugging

Tech Stack: Angular, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, NestJS, Node.js, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Docker

A Great Fit If You: want to own a high-visibility product rebuild end-to-end and are excited by AI integration and containerization work. Because SOURCE exists only on JWICS and the crossover timeline is tight, a recent CI Poly is strongly preferred to enable onsite work from day one.

What Both Roles Require

Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university plus an additional 2 years of related experience
Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience related to the specific labor category (minimum 10 years with a Bachelor's degree)
Active TS/SCI clearance (recent CI Polygraph strongly preferred)
Mandatory: Node.js with TypeScript, SQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch
Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and microservices
Experience building frontend applications with Angular or similar frameworks
Experience working within collaborative, cross-functional Agile teams
Experience with automated testing and CI/CD workflows
Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
Comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments, with the ability to plan and lead major technology assignments, evaluate performance results, recommend changes affecting project growth and success, and function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments
Highly Desired: JSON, Java, JavaScript, SharePoint, XML, VBAs, Oracle, MongoDB, Solr, OpenAI or other AI technologies
