Supervisory Police Officer

Duties

• Serve as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
• Supervisory Police Officers are responsible for responses to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
• Appear in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings.
• Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
• Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force.
• Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.

• Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 2 Years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
• This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
• Must be able obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
• Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
• Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
• Must be able to lift up to 45lbs.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Conducting investigations into alleged/suspected violations in accordance with laws and ordinances; 2) Responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence; AND 3) Preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
