Job Description
100k-190k
We are seeking Systems Engineers to support the development, modernization, and operational prototyping of advanced maritime and undersea systems. This role supports multiple Navy-focused programs spanning early concept development, system reconstitution efforts, capability upgrades, testing, and fielding activities.
Engineers will serve as technical contributors across multidisciplinary working groups responsible for systems planning, risk management, safety integration, training development, requirements analysis, and operational concept development. Successful candidates will be comfortable operating across platform, payload, and sensor domains while supporting system-of-systems level engineering efforts.
This position is ideal for individuals with strong technical foundations who enjoy working through the early phases of the systems engineering lifecycle and helping transform customer requirements into executable solutions.
Responsibilities
Participate in multidisciplinary engineering, safety, integration, and planning working groups supporting future operational field activities.
Develop and manage system requirements, interface definitions, and technical documentation.
Identify and assess program risks, technical issues, and mitigation strategies.
Support Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development and operational planning activities.
Conduct requirements analysis, trade studies, and system performance assessments.
Review engineering procedures and support development of technical training materials.
Support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer briefings.
Contribute to test planning, execution, post-test analysis, and report generation.
Support integration of platforms, payloads, and sensor systems within the maritime domain.
Assist with mechanical system design, prototype development, and system modernization efforts.
Develop white papers, technical recommendations, and engineering assessments.
Serve as a technical representative responsible for tracking actions and ensuring engineering objectives are completed.
Support system reconstitution efforts involving existing hardware, evolving requirements, and customer-directed design modifications.
Areas of Focus
Candidates may support one or more of the following:
Platform Systems
Maritime and undersea vehicle platforms
Autonomous and remotely operated systems
Vehicle integration and mission planning
Payload Systems
Electromechanical payloads
Mission modules
Specialized hardware packages
Sensor Systems
Acoustic and sonar systems
RF and range instrumentation systems
Maritime sensing technologies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another STEM discipline.
Experience supporting systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle.
Experience with one or more of the following:
Requirements development and management
Interface management
CONOPS development
Risk management
Integration and testing
Verification and validation
Technical planning and engineering reviews
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Ability to develop technical documentation, reports, and customer briefings.
Active TS/SCI clearance with willingness to obtain a CI Polygraph.
Candidates with an adjudicated CI Polygraph are highly desired.
Select opportunities may support operational prototyping efforts requiring an active Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Navy, maritime, submarine, or undersea warfare programs.
Familiarity with:
Undersea sensors
SONAR systems
Submarine payloads
Autonomous underwater vehicles (UUVs)
Remote operated vehicles (ROVs)
Maritime mission systems
Experience using IBM DOORS for requirements management.
Experience with MBSE methodologies and Cameo Systems Modeler.
Cameo/MBSE experience is beneficial but not required.
Familiarity with systems engineering processes across the Systems Engineering V-Model.
Experience supporting operational prototyping, technology maturation, or rapid capability development efforts.
Military experience, particularly within Navy submarine, undersea warfare, or maritime operational communities.
Experience with smaller defense technology companies, prototype organizations, or specialized maritime engineering firms.
