Schedule: Monday-Friday | 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Pay: Up to $26.00 per hour (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire

Join a World-Class Composite Materials Laboratory

We're looking for a detail-oriented Layup Technician to join our team in a cutting-edge composite materials laboratory. This is an excellent temp-to-hire opportunity for someone with experience in composite fabrication who enjoys working in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

In this role, you'll be responsible for producing composite and adhesive panels used for material properties testing. You'll perform hand layup of composite materials, operate ply cutting equipment and autoclaves, and help ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately measure and cut raw materials, including prepregs, adhesives, and substrates.
  • Perform hand layup of composite materials, including carbon fiber, aramid, fiberglass, honeycomb sandwich composites, and adhesives.
  • Prepare metal and composite substrates through chemical etching, anodizing, and priming processes.
  • Assist with vacuum bagging and autoclave curing operations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate production and project records.
  • Work closely with engineers, scientists, and laboratory supervisors to meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using "clean as you go" practices.
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) reduction activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to support laboratory operations and continuous improvement efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with composite materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid, prepregs, adhesives, and reinforcement technologies.
  • Experience with composite panel fabrication, vacuum bagging, and autoclave curing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience working with laboratory documentation, databases, or manufacturing records is a plus.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in Lean manufacturing principles.
