Position Location

This position will be remote.

Job Overview

The role of the SME is to provide day-to-day Lead installation support for a variety of structured wiring and telecommunication system installations. Responsible for Oversite, troubleshooting and repairing Infrastructure, wiring, Pathways and related communications equipment. The SME V is responsible for leading on site efforts for network cable plants, including copper, category cable and fiber optic cabling.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

• Review, analyze and correct deficiencies in technical drawings and system diagrams to provide red lines and As-Builts.
• Provides technical solutions and recommendations to resolve installation discrepancies.
• Work in tight, cramped spaces such as equipment rack (IT) rooms and closets
• Work on ladders and/or move up and down steep staircases as required
• Develop, material requirements and equipment requirements,
• Coordinate with drafters to develop and complete project drawing packages.
• Terminate, splice, test, maintain, and repair fiber optic (including fusion splicing), copper, and coaxial cabling
• Providing Cost Estimates and Diagrams
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Extensive knowledge in all aspects of infrastructure and network cabling. Following best industry practices for infrastructure cabling and wiring within a variety of environments
• Experience reading installation drawings and tech manuals
• RF, multi-pin and fiber optic cable and connector building experience
• General knowledge of wired/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures
• Expert knowledge of the installation of equipment racks, switches, other network peripherals and network cabling.
• Must be able to use tools and test equipment
• Working knowledge of OSP/ISP voice and network cabling, equipment, and infrastructure
• Strong coordination, organization, teaming, and communication abilities
• Ability to works well individually or in a team environment
• Ability to work under pressure and time constraints

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• Must be a US citizen

• Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

• Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience of inside plant operation and maintenance experience, installation, testing, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems.

Preferred:

• Current Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certifications
• Knowledge of DOD DATA centers
• General knowledge of operating principles of wired wireless and RF environments
• Electronic Technicians Association (ETA) Certified Fiber Optic Installer
• ETA Certified Fiber Optic Designer
• Knowledge of Defense Health Agency best practices
• Wireless network (802.11b/g/a/n, WLAN/WWAN/WMAN) survey/deployment/support experience is a plus
• Working Knowledge of SPAWAR SIPH (Shore Installation Process Handbook)

Working Conditions:

• Military bases
• Overhead ceilings, Interstitials
• Confined spaces

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to carry 50 pounds unaided or 90-pound loads aided
