Position Overview:
Edgesource is seeking a detail-oriented in full accounting cycle Staff Accountant with Govcon experienceto join our dynamic team as a government contractor. The successful candidate will be detailed-oriented, solution-focused, and responsible for full month-end accounting cycle, full-cycle project management related to customer invoicing, and overseeing financials. Experience with Unanet software is ideal. The role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring 3 days onsite at our corporate offices in Alexandria, VA.

The successful candidate will be detailed-oriented, solution-focused, and responsible for full month-end accounting cycle, full-cycle project management related to customer invoicing, and overseeing financials. - Conduct monthly close functions such as preparing and recording general ledger entries by compiling and analyzing trial balance accounts for all accounts, conducting monthly reconciliations along with creating journal entries, reviewing financial statements, and performing variance analysis, while also supporting necessary management reporting analysis.
- Managing compliance with federal contract terms (Cost Plus, Fixed Price & T&M), schedules, and agreements, including invoicing and reconciliation
- Responsible for full-cycle project management as it related to customer invoicing: setting up projects in Unanet, assigning resources to those projects, tracking funding and modifications, entering billable hours and Other Direct Costs (ODCs), and generating invoices
- Managing and setting up LCATs and assigning resources
- Perform ad hoc and monthly project profit and loss analysis and deliver reports to management and project managers
- Perform contract reviews and work with legal, professional services, and order processing teams to ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, and company revenue and contracting policies for both domestic and international entities
- Collaborate cross functionally with partners as it relates to contract revenue and COGS to ensure accuracy and revenue recognition compliance.
- Support audits to include DCAA, GSA & financial audits
- Identify and support continual process and procedure improvements.
- Documentation of processes related to new accounting tasks and ensuring integrity of revenue accounting information
- Execute judgments to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen who is eligible and wiling to obtain a security clearance
- BS/BA degree in accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of accounting experience as an accountant or consultant in full accounting cycle
- Full understanding and up to date knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Proven experience as an Accountant within the government contracting industry
- Demonstrated experience with UNANET or similar accounting system
- Understanding of all major contract types (Cost Plus, Fixed Price & T&M), and ability to set up and maintain projects in various accounting software
- Experience working in government contracting and significant knowledge to DCAA, JTR, FAR, CAS
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Ability to use excel formula proficiently such as VLOOKUP's, Pivot tables, SUMIF's)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective organizational skills
- Must be able to commute 3 days per week to Alexandria, VA

- Knowledge and proficiency of all Unanet modules
