ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to join our Surveillance and Broadcast Services Monitor (SBSM) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City, OK. This is a full-time on-site position at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC).

The SBSM is a specialized tool used to monitor the performance of the Surveillance and Broadcast Services (SBS) program, particularly ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) services.

Citizenship Requirement

All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.
  • Be a US Citizen.
  • Have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
  • RealID Driver's License/ID or current US Passport.


Relocation Requirement

Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Oklahoma City, OK.

Education & Experience Requirement

All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.
  • Associates degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or similar science/technology curriculum is required.
  • Nine (9) plus years of experience is required.
  • NAS experience is highly desired.

Required Skills
  • Experience performing installation and maintenance activities from written documentation.
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently, as well as a team, in a fast-paced environment.
    • Navigate complex workflows; research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things.
    • Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication; including editing and updating technical documentation.

Essential Daily Job Duties
  • Prepare and design specifications for highly complex equipment or systems.
  • Plan and execute approaches to resolve design problems, recommend new design techniques, and ensure system compatibility under the guidance of an engineer.
  • Design and coordinate test setups and experiments, use innovative measurement techniques, improve equipment performance, advise users on redesign needs, and present test data to stakeholders.
  • Plan and conduct experiments to develop equipment or systems with challenging performance requirements, arrange pilot model fabrication, and determine test procedures and special test equipment designs.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for FAA systems and subsystems, reviewing NAS system changes and contributing technical expertise to new technologies supporting the NAS.
  • Serve as a Senior Engineering Technician and lead small project teams in completing project-related work.
